Does anyone know of any websites that i can download a program where i can download music for free? Kazaa cost money to download and i cant find anything free thow i used to have a few programs. If yall know any please leave a link or location. thanks a lot.

Also, you can check out ocremix.org for a ton of great, free video game remixes. (Ranging from heavy metal to techno and classical, all games from Wolfenstein 3D to Barbie)

I use WinMX for downloading music and it gets pretty good search results, plus I have yet to get any viruses or spyware from it. If you want movies though I would go with something like Limewire.

Of course, but if you've never heard of a band before and want to see what they sound like, you're not gonna shell out 20 bucks for a CD now are yah ;o?

I do buy CDs but I cant afford to buy every song and album that I like.

WinMX is good for dial-up. Unfortunately, it's hopelessly outdated now. I use SoulSeek and WinMX for p2p and Azureus for torrents. Shareaza is too nooby imo.

WinMX does seem to get a good number of search results. And it works fine for DSL, I get downloads around 24-30KB/s (not Kbps).

For DSL thats slow..

Mine get about 90-200 kb/s.

I would get Emule, its open source so you wont get any spyware, watch out for what you download, if your not dumb you wont get viruses, good searching, fare downloading rates, and its free, got music,movies,programs, everything. Bit Torrent is a good one to use also, works best if you have linux though.

IEMC theres a big difference between KB and Kb. There are 8 Kb for every KB.
So 30KB/s X 8 = 240Kb/s. Capital B and lowercase b mean different things.

Basically, 'b' = bit, whilst 'B' = byte (usually treated as eight bits nowadays, but this should really be called an ocet).

To elaborate needlessly further in a desperate attempt to get people to pay attention to standards that are a good eight years old:

1KB = 1 000B (SI style)
1KiB = 1 024B (2^10) (the 'i' for binary)

Etc, so 1MiB = 1 048 576B (2^20), and 1MB = 1 000 000B.

Makes a big difference with large files ? that's the main reason why your new hard disk always looks quite a bit smaller than you expected, the manufacturers always label capacity in GB, say, which are worth less (like US currency) compared to GiB (like Great British Pounds).
