I decided to setup a ded'd server for CS:S

I wanted to find out how I can run the bots so people see the server is active. I've been in other's where there are all bots till someone joins. How do I do it?

Have a flick through the bot_ cvars in the console. If you enter them without parameters, you often get a little explanation.

You can setup a server with the Create a Server option ingame with these options for bots, or just add some bots with bot_add and it should auto-kick them if people join.

You have to set a cvar to have bots play alone, Rabid; at least, you do on listen servers.

None of the bot_* commands are coming up valid commands... I know if you type help <command> it shows a help info. But none of the bot commands that I have on my sheet are valid for some reason.

Play a game normally and go into the console, then do bot_ and scroll down with the arrow keys. Very useful.

dedicated server does not have that option. Maybe if I am in the game and running a server as a player, but not dedicated server - that doesn't pop up, I tried it.

That's what I meant when I said "normally", as a, well, player.

But as a player, Alex, you can put bots in the game you create... unfortunately it also puts you AS one of the players..... dedicated server is much easier on my system, and I dont feel like sitting idle as a player if I'm not home.

Does anyone really know how to do it or is it just not possible? I thought I saw something somewhere about a configuration file..... shrugs

Hmm, I'll try that and see what I come up with, but I dont see in this listing anything about adding a bot to a server.
