I've heard from a few informed sources (Studies of Religion teachers, no less) that the Creation stories aren't actually real: they were made up to serve some other purpose which I cannot quite remember right now. Evolution is rather fascinating really. To think that over a few million years, this tiny speck of rock transformed into today...

I think it is best to teach both and let people come to their own conclusion.

Well, if you're gonna do that, then you may as well teach ALL of them, rather than limiting it to two. Evolution seems more plausible to me anywho...

Yeah. Creatonism is ridiculous: where did God come from in the first place, eh? Yes, you can indeed say the same about the Big Bang.

the big bang happend when the demention of time split from the original demention. Well, time is energy compressed by a factor of c-squared, so it has the same energy density as mass. and thats alot of energy. so between 0sec to 1e-47sec the rest of the dementions began or had split from the original demention. now, with times huge energy density in one place, being converted to energy by the creation of the other dementions(because these other dementions used that energy to be created).
now, depending on wether the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd separated simotaniously or one at a time, you still have a huge amount of energy(apx 10e68 joules) concentrated in the space about as big as a pinpoint. and then you have the bang.
problem solved. now I just have to figure out what happend before the big bang

The idea that the world is 5,000 years old is is crap. It does not mention that anywhere in the Bible how old the Earth is. I do think God created the world and all life on it, but he gave them the ability to adapt and change as needed. Sort of like giving them independence.

I really dont believe in evolotion. Its just too complex to happen on its own. It seems more like we were designed.

Exactly. Either way, it doesn't make sense. At least science tries to improve on it.

Burn... ;)

Goat, I totally agree with everything you are saying here.

Jeremy, think of how long life has been here on this Earth. Aparently you are ignorant on the subject of evolution. Just because it is complicated, does not mean it can happen. I suggest you read more (Or something at all) on the theory of evolution. Obviously that is what turned me to believe in it.
Exactly. Either way, it doesn't make sense. At least science tries to improve on it.
I understand that you speak in a Liberal mindset, meaning you want change, but I just want you to realize that everything is not "wrong". Some things are "right", and do not need to be changed or "improved" on. What happened in the past is past, we cannot re-create it to better suit our time now. I do agree with science, but it is the individual scientists minds that tell us that religion does not exist. There is obviously no proof of it otherwise.

This is where belief comes into play. What happened at the start of time? We are presented with theories, with which we construct our own opinion on the subject, and "believe" it. We have conflicting beliefs, which means that something in both of our lives must have changed that so.

Let me elaborate:

Remember Locke? (Liberal Thinker). He said that people are who they are because of the things that happen throught their life. He believed that everyone was born a blank slate. I somewhat agree with this, but we do not need to get into this now.

Well, our conflicting opinions are an exact result of what has happened to us over our lives. Things shape us, people shape us, events shape us, and we do a little of the shaping ourselves.

One of the main reasons we probably have conflicting opinions is the way we were raised. Although I was born in Sweden, I was raised here in America. You were raised in Europe.

It is totally naive to think that you are totally right because it makes "logical sense". You have to think of where each of us is coming from.

I'm not sure of your story, and you are not sure of mine, but you cannot just blindly assume that there is no thought behind what I am saying.

I mean improve on theories. Religion is stagnant. Science adapts. Science is free. A free religion is just a cult.

Seventh i find that offensive. Why do you bash religion so much? Its like you had a bad experience with it or something. Being a Christain is something that i chose. Religous people arent dumb and ignorant, well some are, but dont let that give the rest of us a bad name.

Religion doesnt cause violence, people do. I dont have a problem with non-relgious people, but when they attack religion, then i do. Im not trying to convert anyone but i would like if we all could respect each others beliefs.

See, you already made the link, people cause violence in name of their religion. the religion they created themselves.

Not really. About the most religious thing I've done was bell-ringing, and I didn't consider that religious. I didn't say anyone was dumb or ignorant.
Religion doesnt cause violence, people do.
Yeah, that's exactly it. Religion in its own right is indifferent. As soon as anybody actually joins it...
not everything needs to be changed.
Look at the world, Bratty. It's pretty terrible on the whole. A lot needs changing, and I'm the one to do it. That's why you should join the Unfocused Revolutionary Club ? all it takes is a small donation. You get a free badge of your choice, and get to keep the vague idea of improving the world! Yay.

Religious 'discussions' seem to be a recurring thing on here.
It's like deja-vu.

Personally I don't see why you lot get to wound up about it. I don't care what you think, you shouldn't care what I think. I can't change what you think, you can't change what I think.

But while I am here.
I really don't care about religion or politics, I have lost faith in the people with power along time ago, all they do is screw each other over for more power and wealth. And religion, as I have said before, I believe is just a safety blanket for those insecure few, who want something after life to re-assure themselves that there is a better place after you die.
