The rating system currently allows a map to be rated by its creator. That's just... well, encouraging for certain types of... people...
Can it be changed to only allow others to rate a map?

Why does it matter? rating will be high in the long run if its good and low if not dosent mattermuch anyhow....

I agree. Like when we were over-run by Cpl.1nsanes friends and the pigraper voted his de_dust 5, 48 times.

It wasn't his de_dust.
Also, the pigraper (Kaptain_Krunch) is using a false email address. dstag@hotmail.com doesn't exist. However, I know his real one. Anyone want it? Also, we should only allow one rating per person, 'cos the pigraper/Kaptain_Kunt reduced the ratings like hell on space station.

As for the ranking system, we have put these concerns down on the to do list....
However,
Maps that are actually finished and playable might if the god's are smiling be added to a review page sometime this year.

About the rating system, maybe add the number of ratings to the info bar... A map rated by a lot of people gets more popular I think...
