Hey... come on now, fat people need loving to, its unfortunate that friends and family dont say what they feel.
it sounds like the person has a low self worth, with good coaching and being told that they have worthy personal traits, maybe this would encourage them to be more healthy, no one likes to see a young person eating themselfs to an early grave :(

P.S for your information, im not fat, I have an over active thyroid gland that burns up fat fast, whilst this is good for me and prevents me from getting fat I feel sorry for people who just have to look at a donut and they gain a couple of pounds. hmmm heavy topic, (no pun implied.)

Posted 19 years ago2005-08-28 02:17:37 UTC Post #130395
I understand what that's like. I spent like a whole day shopping for jeans that fit, because they're either to big around the waist or too short... god dammit. Everyone is so fat, it's unfair for us. :<!
Heh, I have a similar thing, but trying to get jeans that I can actually get over my manly muscular, uh... quadraceps? Front of the upper leg.

The reason there are no fat guys on this site is because we're all geeks. ;o! Geeks = skinny, usually tall nerds.
Cool then I'm not a geek! I'm not thin(3/4kgs too much)and I'm not that tall(1.70m~ and I'm 15 years old). :o

With satch's permission, I'd like to stop this thread wandering derogatorily out-of-hand now.

Less derailment, more debate.

People shouldn't be constantly ridiculed for being fat in the same way smokers shouldn't. Doctors, however have a right, nay, duty to constantly nag people as it is for their own good.

In both cases, the person only has his or herself to blame.

Making excuses for, and even deluding yourself with your own madeup "science" about damaging lifestyle choices is ridiculous.

Good Idea. This wasnt intended to be a humor thread.

And dont you guys go around thinking all America is fat. Colorado is the skinniest state in the US with only about 14% of people overweight. Just states like Alabama (lots of fat rednecks and swamp hicks) that throw off the statistics.
Posted 19 years ago2005-08-30 02:40:55 UTC Post #130825
Otherwise known as stereotyping. However, its statistically proven (somewhere, anyway) that America contains the highest proportion of obese people. Think about it: America is the birth-place of just about every bit of junk food that has ever existed: McDonalds, KFC, Hungry Jacks, Coca-Cola...

And meatshakes. Meat ... shakes... Madness.

Last time I checked, sweden had about 40% male obesity and 50% female. A scary thought indeed, allthough I don't really believe in those statistics. Newspaper "Experts" kind of made them up.

Oh yeah, seventh. Meh, same shit. Since obese basically means too fat, and overweight means above the healthy standars.

Let me remind you, this thread was not about telling everyone how thin you are. That would be the "My e-self is thinner than your e-self"-thread. Seriously, you can lie on the net too.
Posted 19 years ago2005-08-30 15:21:55 UTC Post #131041
I seriously believe that my career advancement is impeded by that incidence. When the parent got upset, the department chairman just happened to be around, and he was the one who had to calm the mother down (she refused to talk to me afterward).

And now I am stuck doing per diem work for the rest of my life because of that obese kid who wouldn't take a good advice from a caring doctor.

And if anyone says there is a God, where was He to defend me when it happened?

This just in: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20050823/hl_nm/obesity_dc;_ylt=AuxyMS9v4Y.01kEI80.WDdzVJRIF;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl

And the official medical definition of obesity is when someone's BMI (body masss index, calculated by taking the square root of the ratio of the person's weight in kilograms over height in centimeters) is greater than 90 percent of the general population.

http://nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

The BMI can be misleading for some body types. For example, bodybuilders are technically "overweight", but they are really not unhealthy because their extra weight is from lean body mass (muscles).

I am a fairly muscular guy, and my BMI is high as a result of my decades of weight lifting.
