Forgive the title. Ok so here it is. I've been doing some thinking over the past week or so and one of the thoughts that crossed my mind is this.

I only know my fellow TWHL members (you lot) through TWHL so saying "You're always on TWHL you nerd!" would be unfair and highly hypocritical.

So, what do you guys (and girls, ((c'mon theres gotta be at least 1!?)) do when your not on the net? I don't mean school or work because thats obvious. What else do you guys do?

Here's the low-down on myself:

For the past 2 years I've been at college which resulted in a fail anyway. Waste of time. Nowadays I very rarely get on the net but when I do I always come straight here.

Otherwise I relax infront of the TV or just chill in my room listening to Green Day or MCR and often think "What first. Dyed hair, Piercing or Tattoo."

Very rarely I'll go for a drive depending on the weather and those of you who do drive will know that with a good CD (or not) on a quiet day there is nothing quiet as relaxing as a good cruise through the country / town/ city or whatever.

My favourite occupation at the moment is my new G/F. I quite often hang around with her if she isn't working. Also she lives about 15 minutes out into the countryside so I get the pleasure of the aformentioned 'cruise' at the same time.

Otherwise I'm here. I don't really play games anymore either which is odd because a month ago I would be flopping bodies all over the place in GMod. Strange how something can change you.

So thats pretty much it. If you want you can post something about you or you can shun off this thread muttering "depressing bastard" under your breath. I don't really give a shit but I thought it might be interesting.

Urban out- ;)

Yea.. My intereste besides the computer would be:

Karate. I like it.. Great way to relax after some brain-work and to biuld some muscle.
Cycling (I'm not old enough to have a driver's license). Nice to ride 'round the city or somewhere in teh country.. An MP3 player is my best friend here..
I like to watch some late-movies on TV sometimes and a good book is also great..
The only thing that relaxes me for good is music. Good music.

That's about it.. :)

I can upload some of my drawing but not now. And since this is a Hl site I might upload drawings of hl1's characters... if I'll want to draw any.

I used to doodle all the time in school. Mostly HL stuff.

HL became an obsession I had back then. Hell, in one of my Drama classes I jumped at the role of a security guard / police officer type guy and my teacher told me that I had both a good posture (barneys hands behind the back standing pose) and a great American accent although it was a little out of place (everyone else was English).

Outside TWHL? I never go outside :glad:
Erm, I usually go swimming on weekends, watch cinema film...
Take a trip down at KFC etc.

My life = Mapping / Playing Gmod with The Hunter + School (Sixth Form) + Homework + outdoor things like clubs and Gigs.

Oh my. I take it most of the members (or among those who have posted) have are under 18. Notice how my website died a few weeks before my 19th Birthday. Thats when life hits you in the face. 18-19.

I go out on the piss every other Saturday now. If I wake up on Sunday with no memory of the night before then it was obviously a good one.

Of course now that I have finally discovered some of life's finer aspects I'm even more against smoking and drugs (besides alcohol) because they just fuck the whole thing up.

I like martial arts as well but the fact that any decent martial arts (that I'd like to do) is at least 30 minutes away by bus (which ain't cheap) and costs a lot of money (something I don't have, as a student) I'm currently not able (read: willing) to do that. In the past I've done Judo, Kung-Fu and Karate. Though none of those I practiced for longer than 18 months. (Oddly enough, there's always been reasons for quitting.)

Since I go to college and work 5 days a week, that allows for little other stuff to do but to relax behind my PC or spend time with my girlfriend. Other hobbies that I have (asides level design, graphical art and surfing the net) are writing, drawing and TV. I wish I could add Jeet Kune Do to that list, but the nearest location for that is Amsterdam. (Meh!)

I thoroughly enjoy playing the piano and learning Russian. I walk about five miles a day, which I like. Don't really have time for that much else at the moment. If I try to do much else, everything else suffers.

Mostly, I do a lot of coding in FreeBASIC. I'm finishing my last year of high school and taking some college classes on the side. If I have free time at night, I sometimes hang out with my band (Paulson's Glove) and we just recently made a cd. If anyone wants to hear some of our music, email me: alec.elton@gmail.com, because the websites down. And I hang out here a lot. (more for the community than for the site content :) )

Most of the time i spend on school, still have to finish of some reports. I cycle 11km everyday, however the weather may be. I also spend quiet a lot of time on flightsimulator, it usualy takes some time studying and creating flights and knowing the airplane. That said, flying basic patterns in a triple seven takes quiet a lot of time.

Then, comes Gamedesign when im in the mood, and then playing a game or so, mostly Battlefield 2 nowadays.

Oh, i drop by a couple of websites or so in the week.

Urm I listen to a lot of music such as 'Muse', and hang out with friends as much as possible.

I used to go out every weekend and Friday night and get as wasted as possible. But I have pretty much stopped that recently, since i have moved house I haven't had as much time to get into the town with my friends.

A lot of my time is spent with my girlfriend. Most days when we are free normally, but that has dropped a bit as she also lives in town, but I still commute most days.

I am going to take up skateboarding pretty soon, as soon as I get the parts for xmas, so that will probably take up a fair amount of time.

I really am not that academic, I do homework the day before/on the day normally if it is important, there are only a few subjects I actually take time over to do, such as Graphics or Art.

I love sports, my favourites being hockey, football, baseball etc.

I play games when I get bored, probably mostly Xbox games, as they are quick and don't normally require a lot of concentration or suffer from bad framerates etc, but I also do like to play Battlefield 2 when I am bored.

I don't tend to read very much anymore, I used to read in bed, but not anymore really, since I have read all my books I own currently.

And that is all I can think of at the moment.

You did read some of the previous posts, right? Most of the people before you mentioned all the other stuff they're doing asides computing. Or did you just assume that the 50% non-nerd of the TWHL populace already posted and that the other posts following after yours, would be made by the nerd section?

I am speaking for myself, but I do believe that being a mapper automatically qualifies one as a geek/nerd.

However, a geek can be multi-faceted as well. I play lots of games, and I enjoy building my computer from scratch, but there are also many other sides of me.

I am an avid bodybuilder. In fact, I tried so hard to reach my goal at bench-pressing twice my body weight that I injured my right shoulder. So I am off for two weeks for it to recover. I typically go to the gym every other day for the past fifteen years.

I love a good movies. I saw "Goblet of Fire" yesterday and "Pride and Prejudice" tonight. I am a cinephile.

I am learning to play the guitar, and I am a jazz fanatic.

Hmmm..life outside TWHL...is it possible...

Well let me see....

I play Drum's, Keyboard and Trumpet...
I Restore and hot rod cars...
I work 4 days on and 4 days off at an under ground mine...
I support my kids by taking and watching them play sport...
I like playing around with computer equipment (building them)...
I enjoy going to the Grand hotel at Glenelg (pub over looking the South Australian coast), it has large removable widows so you can have a drink and sit on the window ledge in summer and watch the girls *cough, I mean ships go by....
I do renovation work, tiling, timber work on friends houses (and my house)...
I enjoy playing PC, X-Box and play-station 2 games...

so as you can see I have a full fun life...but yes Im still a nerd and proud of it

:P
