Ok heres what happend ,a few nights ago I had just finished updating and went to bed, the next morning I got up turn the computer on to do some more work on it and then I find out that it doesn't want to boot up for me. I had 2 HDDs in there and I had a spare so I replaced them with the spare one (10gb). And now I'm wanting to get the HDDs working or get my maps off them. But the old ones have windows 2K on them and this has XP and when I tryed to use this one and one of the others they kind of clashed together. Would anyone help me in finding out how to make the old ones work or just how I could get some files off them. Thanks

well - if you set your old HDDs as "Slave" drives - everything should work.. Win2K should not boot from a slave disk.

But - if the drives themselves are corrupted, forget about your files.

But its probably just a software glitch someplace.

Yes. Find the jumper(s) on your hold HDD and set them to "Slave" they should run fine with your XP install then.

if that doesn`t work you could decompile the bsp`s of the maps you have on this site. Not perfect however and creates errors that you will need to fix.

I have heard of people having luck recovering drives for a half hour or less after freezing them and quickly sticking them in the computer, but only as a last resort.

how would freezing a hard drive fix it???

Yeah, I've heard of that before. Can't remember quite what the grounds for it working were, but I gather it's a practised method.
