Is there any way to get the top maps on the front page to show a bigger variety of maps? Cause its always showing warpcore and tp_sacrifice. Like could it randomly choose any 2 maps that are rated 4.5 average or higher?

i beleive that two factors decide top maps.

I always see my maps...Is it glitched?!

Sometimes I see the twhl dedictation and the sydney harbor bridge but it usually just cycles between those 4 maps.

The whole system is flawed, as ratings usually don't depict the quality of the level. This is mainly due to rating spammers (back in the old days) and stupid noobs who don't appreciate good maps.

Yes I agree, there should be more rotation for the Top maps.
There is so many god maps in the map valut.
And I start to be little tirerd to se Timefall and Space Lasercore on the front side. Hum.. but they are dammit god

Criteria:

• Average rating is greater than 4.4
• At least five votes
• Finished category
• User has more than fifty logins

Ordered by the last login time.

That's why, at the moment, you will often see your own maps (if you don't suck ;)), and will usually see the same few ? just because you're usually active around the same time as the authors of those other maps.

I will code a better one at some point.

I still think hand-picking maps is a better idea - some people (like me ;)) disable(d) ratings because of those rating spams, other maps get 5 stars for no good reason at all... the rating system is quite flawed here I think. But that may also depend on the maturity of the community or parts of it, maybe?

Actually, this top map feature resembles the 'featured' feature of sites like Mapcore and Thewall.de. Those are hand-picked as well, though they show the same projects for a longer time untill a better one comes by.

One cannot disable ratings on a Completed map.

It's entirely down to the reviewers. If a map doesn't deserve five stars, vote it down. It's sorta democratic, only the leaders can change anything they want :D.

All of my maps have their ratings disabled, 'cos of past spammage of ratings by the infamous Anonymous.

Not that I'm saying any of my maps should be in the top maps section, but you get the idea.

I dont think you can rate anonomously anymore, so I think spam ratings wont be a problem now.

Yes, but it was in the past, and therefore the maps which WERE spammed anonymously can't be in the Top Maps.

Yeah, it's really flawed because people can post their map, then vote 5 stars and then it's getting selected for top map as opposed to others with a 4 and a 5 vote, which imo, is unfair.

Just a thought but why not allow people to vote again now that the system only lets you vote once.

Who would honestly bother re-reviewing a map, though? Other than a handful of cliques voting for their mates maps.

Hand picking maps will give a better result.

Offcourse this all depends on who picks em That is the major bug in the system, people.

In my early interweb days, I belonged to several flash communities. flash portals generaly work ad such.

you submit your map like you would currently. if a map is deemed to be a pile of shit it is deleted from the archive. (blammed - NG fans ;))

there is a table showing the top x maps ever, top x maps this month. where x is like 20 or somthing.

2 or 4 maps are handpicked to be on the front page of the site to get the love they deserve.

Its a tried and tested system and it would work well here. theres not that much on the front page anyhow. :/
