I haven't found anything wrong with it yet, nor have I had a problem.
(...I have noticed that such sites as www.yahoo.com seems to try and discourage IE use...)

Opera is superior to firefox by "user friendly" means and from a programmers prospective. Sure firefox is open source and has tons of plugins but most of their crap is worthless.

CustomizeGoogle - ok, maybe not absolutely nescessary, but it disables those annoying ads for me and you can turn on google suggest and other useful stuff quickly
IEtab - lets you open an instance of IE inside a tab in firefox. this instance has the security most of the firefox features (it is beta)
ChatZilla - how else would i use IRC? it also integrates links you click to open in the window of firefox you have open and has a range of awsome smilies
i use flashgot the most - it is definately the plugin i couldnt live without

Hotmail should work fine in FF, it works in Opera. Windows Live Mail, however (the flashy, IE user interface) doesn't work in Opera and from what I've seen, it's probably better that way.

Useful or not, it's the liberty to choose which ones you want that's the central argument.

Just go to File > Import > Internet Explorer Favourties, or something like that. They're usually stored in Documents and Settings > Username > Favourites.

I really ought to record a video of a visit to TWHL sometime to show you how massively more efficent it is.Thats now your homework assignment for TWHL
I found fire fox to be;
-faster
-more asthetically pleasing and with a better layout
-safer
-more up to date
-more features which are useful
So I use Fire Fox on my PC, my dad still uses IE and I have no problem with that because its his computer, I have told him to upgrade many times but he keeps on setting it back.
Bottom line is, Fire Fox is actually better for web browsing, if you just want to surf or if you really get stuck in. If you dont want to use it, fine, but dont go saying its worse than IE because it isnt, quite the opposite.
