Alright, well basically I'm making an indoor map and I cut a hole in the roof and put a see-thru glass window there, and I want the sun to shine threw it where as you can see the rays from the light. Any ideas on how to do this or any maps you know of which have this so I can look on how to do it? Thanks a bunch.

You can't see the rays coming down though.

func_illusionary? make a brush in the shape of your light rays.

turn the brush into a func_illusinoary and set render mode on texture and fx amount to 70 to make it transparent.

Although i've never tried this.

Also use a yellow texture for you brush.

Here's a couple more maps that contain nice examples of volumetric light.

The search only works if somebody puts the terms your searching for in the map title or in the description... There are many fine examples in the vault, with very poor descriptions ;)

A nice one by Rimrook using sprites:

Everybody got the same idea as I did! Yesterday I started making an example map on all the kinds of volumetric lights I know for I was quite sick and tired of people only using one kind.

Captain P was working on a nice in-game tutorial, but I don't think he finished it.

You should release it anyway Elon! It would be nice to have one, nice finished example on all the different types imo.

It's funny how nobody notices the old example maps. Zombieloffe made an example map on volumetric lights. Although noob's version is better.
