Hey.
When I try to install something from a CD or a DVD there is always atleast ONE file that it can't copy (I get an error saying that it failed to copy)
However, if I restart and try again it works some times.
I recently formated my hard drive, and before that I had none of these two problems (DVD and CD)
Sure, my CD-drive is borked, but there is nothing wrong with my DVD drive.

So, everytime I instal something from either CD drive or DVD drive there is always one file which fails to copy.
Any one familliar with this problem, and perhaps knows how to fix it?

An other problem showed up related to BF2 (which I am TRYING to install right now)
I managed to install BF2 with only one file failing to copy, however, when I try uppdating it it fails.

I think the problem is that I don't have FAT32, I have NTFS, I'll try to change it with a program

That's really strange...
Which programs have you tried installing that fails?
Do you get any errors in POST (the BIOS startup, that you see when you turn on the computer)?

Not quite Elof.

FAT32 can be used for hard-drives that are under 40 gigs. Windows can easily use it, just as it has for previous versions (95, 98, ME, etc).

NTFS would not be causing your problem.

So, what you're saying is that the problem isn't NTFS, and that I shouldn't change it to FAT32?

SWAT 4, Battlefield 2, Age of empires 3. I recall there was something else...

Sure, my CD-drive is borked, but there is nothing wrong with my DVD drive.

Maybe there is...
Anyway, if there's a hardware problem with your HD drive, reformatting or changing the file system probably won't change anything.

Just a question because I'm not the smartest guy in the World when it comes to PC hardware etc...But my PC feels as though it has gotten perhaps slower and programs often crash with ease aka Hammer.

I have 3Gb free on C drive and 7 free on D drive - I was thinking of defragging...Do you agree?

My other question is is there like a 'free' program that checks your computer for any problems aka hardware or software...Just want to know because it would be so easy if a program just scanned your whole PC for problems...I doubt this exists.

And defragging is always a good idea.

ZL: I checked my hard drives for problems using System Mechanic 6 (pro)
And both units where healthy (C and D)
So it seems as the problem isn't that they are unhealthy.

I'll ask my father to check the info which comes up in the start up (Because I can't understand any of that)

I'll come back with futher information.
