Ok, the other one died due to lack of interest. You know the rules and this one follows the story of an actual HL2 character you meet in the game.
Here goes.
URB'S MULTIPLE CHOICE FICTION.
Chapter 1
Miscount
?Attention please. Unidentified person of interest.?
That was the first time in the years of the combine over watch being in power that somebody had slipped by the immense security measures of the City 17 train stations. It was the first sign of hope.
Joe sat in his chair in the dank and dirty kitchen of his apartment. There were three strong knocks coming from the corridor outside the front doorway. Joe kept his vacant stare focused on the window in front of him. There was a crash and a series of noises that could best be described as unpleasant and violent. There was another series of footsteps behind him. He waited for the buzz of a metro cop's stun stick but nothing happened. Instead the figure swung round so that it stood before the window. Joe was drunk on the ten or more bottles of beer he had found in the park this morning. He looked through the blur in an attempt to make out any distinguishing features. He attempted to greet the figure.
?Was that you knocking?? he asked. ?I didn't know we still had a door.?
The figure slid away into the next room where Troy and Michelle were looking out of the window. They both said something to the man, nondescript to Joe, before the blurry figure slipped away again.
?Attention residents.? The over watch radio boomed into life again. ?Miscount detected in your block. Cooperation with your civil protection team guarantees full ration reward.?
Joe attempted to stand up but slumped back into his chair just as two sets of footsteps ran into the apartment. He turned his head just in time to receive a stun stick to the face. He flew of his chair and into the wall. He slumped down and his eyes focused on the living room. Troy was on the floor being severely beaten by the cops. Michelle ran towards the kitchen as one officer drew his pistol. He fired one shot and Michelle dropped to the floor like a rag doll, her face a few inches from Joe's. She murmured something to him as the cop followed into the kitchen. The officer stood over the two bodies. He fired two shots, both into Michelle. Joe blacked out.
In the darkness he could here alien voices, murmuring to themselves in an tongue unknown to him. Suddenly a shaft of light appeared and a gaunt man in a suit stepped through. The man studied Jou up and down before looking straight into his eyes, looking almost puzzled.
?Not...yet. Soon.? his speech was impaired somewhat, like he was out of breath. He nodded to himself and disappeared into the shadows.
Joe opened his eyes with a sharp jolt of his limbs. The apartment had long since been abandoned. Nothing but blood stains remained. He sat up on the floor and a sharp pain seared through his head and neck. He was bleeding a little, the warm trickle darted from his hairline into his left eye. He jerked, rubbing his eyes wildly to clear his vision. There was gunfire in the street below and a metro cops radio crackled into life not far from the apartment window.
?Up there! On the roof! TAKE HIM DOWN!?
Joe scrambled to his feet as a gunship rumbled the building as it rushed past the building.
?What the hell is going on?? he thought to himself.
A) Head left out of the door and go down to the rear courtyard.
B) Head right out of the door and go upstairs.
C) Stay put and wait until the gunfire dies down.
