I'm definitely getting it again when it's better, but as for now, stick with XP

AWESOME! :D Going through all of this is gonna take me a while. Might have to dust off Hammer and start mapping again soon.

On a side note, this has used up about 28% of my bandwidth already and it's only the 8th of the month xD I'll let you keep it up there for a while, but if it hits 75% before the 25th, I'll have to take it down. I need my bandwidth for FTP storage, emails and such too.

Thanks Rim... although could I suggest that the presents are 'seperated', it seems a waste for so many people to dl part one!!!

Cheers for all the effort, we really appreciate it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE not really lol.

I'm reuploading the original to fix what i broke earlier, also, the lite version is availible.

Lite Version

The Lite version doesn't have the installer and all that crap. So the file size is much lower.

lol again, i put a crater in m0p's bandwidth. Sorry m0p, but there's a mirror now so I get that helps. I don't plan to leave it up for no longer than a few weeks.

EDIT: ya know, how mark snark marks would i get for this, roflcopter!

I think i mentioned it, but a thread showcasing our first models. Something to have fun with. Also, I'm open to asnwer further questions on modeling if anyone is stuck with a prob.

You are a fucking legend Rimrook, thank god you never left for good.
Posted 17 years ago2007-05-09 09:03:34 UTC Post #221489
So if you have the full version you don't need the Lite? (I was having trouble understanding what you meant) Anyways, thanks alot, this is very useful to me (believe it or not).
Posted 17 years ago2007-05-09 09:08:08 UTC Post #221490
The Lite version does not have the Max installer.

Thanks Rimrook!

After reading through the whole thread, I still have no idea what it is.

I am hesitant, because I am afraid that the file is a sly prank.

First it sends itself to everyone in your e-mail list, then it deletes all of your files...

now satchmo, who would do that? And why would we all be pleased by it?

Luke, World Crafter: I really don't see how this stuff could be useful to anyone other than game designers/mappers.

Srry, you seem to have a very narrow outlook on this kind of thing. This stuff is used by a lot of companies that have nothing to do with gaming. Games aren't the only things that use models. Think about architects, construction workers, computer animated films or shows, advertisements. Think especially about things like computer models that are integrated into real life movies and such.
It area spans far beyond mere game design, especially when it comes to something like what we have, it being one of the most powerful of its kind out there.
If you want to stick to the gaming mindset, it still goes way past mapping. Props obviously aren't the only thing models are used for, you know.
Posted 17 years ago2007-05-09 18:15:02 UTC Post #221528
WC is right.

you can make new props, characters, weapons, monsters, as well as animation for all of those. Also you can make skies mega easily, just for hl, there are also other things you can do with it.

Explore it, there's much to do.

EDIT: once the availability of the gift is expired, it wouldn't matter if we talk about its contents, because no one else will be able to get it and the craze for it will be over.

Rimrook, what kind of sky are you talking about? Like a 3D sky or just a regular 6-sided cube sky?
Edit: Oh, right. Rendering. Gotcha.

Maybe we should consider putting the downloads in a dir, and passwording the dir, at least on my site anyway, to stop the influx of retards using the bandwidth, and only quality, pre-approved TWHL members can suck it up :)

I'm not too bothered at the moment, it's not using up much more bandwidth now most of the quality members have got their hands on it. I'm not gonna start worrying unless my bandwidth shoots RIGHT up, which I don't think it will do now everyone has it =]

I'm well aware of the many uses for the main program included, and I'm not mad at all (STFU Luke), But you can hardly say that everyone who uses a computer will find a use for it... especially considering that most people never do anything but check their email and surf the internet. Indeed, it would be hard to deny how versatile a tool it is. Besides that, I was referring to everything included in the package, not just the main feature of it. My outlook is not narrow, kthnx.
Posted 17 years ago2007-05-09 21:14:33 UTC Post #221550
wait, computers do more than check e-mail and surf Internet?

Just noticed this... So, the gift will be taken down Saturday May 19th. No exceptions. Another week won't hurt.

If anyone asks for the pass and has like 2 logins and are 1 day old, don't give it.
