so I recently got into The Specialists again, and since there's going to be a new version coming out in the near future I thought perhaps I'd try to piece together a small map to play around with.

What do you guys think makes a good TS map? Layout? (game play, flow etc), Looks? (texturing, brushwork, nice screenshots) or simply action packed no nonsense deathmatch goodness? I do not plan on making an RP map, as RP is extra lame. I'll probably work on a little 'duel' style map for 4 or 5 players... So if any of you have any tips or comments or suggestions about TS maps I'd like to hear them before I start to think of a layout.

Someone suggested a Prison compound to me one time. That was after playing my first ever map (Which sucks) that resembled a prison courtyard.

CTF?

Uhm, I meant like a smaller deathmatch style arena like hammertime, not a CTF map with a symmetrical layout and team coloured textures.

Im an experienced TS player, so I should be able to give a good idea:

With what i see in that screenshot, it seems that your not taking into account the player's ability to do stunts. People love to be able to go on top of things, and having a null texture on top of a building isn't exactly helping.

And that kinda theme map may be tricky to work with when dealing with TS.

Theres something else, too, thats it's lacking. I just can't put my finger on it.
