Here's the deal.
I have a laptop which is better than the computer which I first played HL on max graphics on.
But for some reason I'm getting mouse lag when I play.
Also, it does not seem to like the smoke grenades in CS, even tho they are at lowest quality.
Also, I run the games in 16 bit mode, not 32 even tho the computer can handle it.
It would seem as this is not a system spec related issue as even if I drag down the graphics, I still get the same problems.

What's really weird (hence the name) is that these problems only seem to occur in half-life 1 related games,
I mean, I can play Quake 3 with max bots no problem!

Notice that this does not only affect online play, but also single player.

Any ideas on how to fix this, or is there nothing that I can do about it?

Thanks!

Try gl_d3dflip 1.
Put it in autoexec.cfg if you don't want to type it all the time. Might help.

Well, I didn't notice any difference.
What did it do anyway?

Smooth mouse on or off?

I've tried both, doesn't make any difference at all either

Are you running in OpenGL or Direct3d?

Direct3d causes major lag in gldsrc games, no idea why.

Yeah, gl_d3dflip 1 fixes that, IIRC.

Oh, sorry, forgot to say that.
Im running OpenGL, so Direct3d shouldn't be a problem.
But perhaps that is the problem?
I mean, it is a fairly new laptop, it SHOULD support OpenGL

It's not a hardware problem unless the lappy is from like 98. Properly updated drivers? I dunno.

Properly updated drivers? I dunno.
I assume that since it works in newer games. :x
And I believe the same mouse worked on my old PC no prob.

But I'll see if I can find any new drivers
