Was snooping around Rotten Tomatoes a few minutes ago. Seeing if the Movie Hellboy was worth a rental (which i think it is)

Anyway i stumbled upon something interestingly interesting enough to tell everyone about.

Scroll down to #2 and check out what Take Two and Universal are planning.

BIOSHOCK the movie!!!

Won't be out for a while though... :(
Though no release date is even being targeted, Verbinski said he plans to start pre-production as soon as Logan's script is finished and approved by all involved.

Oh, and Bioshock 2 anyone?
Take-Two is developing a "Bioshock" sequel that will be released in 2009, almost certainly before the film comes out.

Yah, read about this about 4 days or so, the news has been slowly spreading.

Gore Verbinski is a fan of the game himself, and he knows how to make an epic adventure movie (despite what Pirates nay-sayers think) so i'm hoping he does it right.

Also hoping it isn't as repetetive as the last few hours of the game. ;)

There's actually potential for a good movie with a story like Bioshock's. Here's to hoping the film turns out half-decent toast

PCGamer UK: Movies are just not long enough to do videogames justice.
I wait for the day for that quote to be proven wrong. I don't expect Bioshock to be the one to do it. :(

Andy, dude! The Silent Hill move was AAAAAWESOME!
And the Doom movie was allright! ok, they deleted the demons from hell and replaced them with stupid genetical experiments... But it was still an awesome movie! They had the BFG and that awesome fps scene!

And the FIRST Resident evil movie was pretty much allright!

I haven't really played Bioshock so I don't know that much about the story, but if the story is good the movie should be good!

Have some faith, damn it! :P

I hear there's a metroid one in the works as well. Apparently Samus aran stumbled upon earth..

The plot seems kinda iffy, but i'm looking forward to it regardless.
And movies CAN'T do anything justice, real events, books, videogames, you name it.
Sometimes the director has a different outlook on the product than most people see. And the time constraints and budgets. Videogames can go hundreds of times more in-depth than movies, But they're still cool to watch.

Except hitman. That sucked hard.

Tets. Ofcourse a movie can't do any other media justice, just as a book wouldn't do a movie justice, or even a game. Just look at movies that later become games, they suck ass!

The problem is that the fans always want an exact replica of the game as a movie. But that just doesn't work! And everybody would already know exacly what's going to happen. So I think we need to step back a few steps and remind ourselvs that this movie is not the game.

From what I remember, Doom was perhaps one of the most horrifically B-grade films I have ever seen. The acting was a joke, and there was too much CGI for me to be convinced. And the BFG stood for 'Big Fucking Gun', not 'Bio Force Gun'. Pansies. Nowadays I hate most sci-fi and fantasy, because most of it is crap. I prefer the old stuff, such as Lord of the Rings (Especially the book series) and sci-fi from Arthur C Clarke and other classic authors.

The first 3 Resident Evil films have sucked a LOT of cock, I don't expect this one (some CGI monstrosity, might I add) will be better. Granted, Capcom are making it, in contrast to the "real-actors" films, but still... I see little hope for the film.

Also, Anchorman 2?! omfg!

Andy, dude! The Silent Hill move was AAAAAWESOME!
I die a little inside every time I see someone say this. The Silent Hill movie was about as faithful to the games as an abusive husband.
1. First of all, I'm going to play the PH card. Pyramid Head's character was ruined by changing it from an "inner demon rapist" to some random brutal killer from Hell. I don't care who you are, no matter how gruesomely you kill someone, it can never be as terrifying as an equally gruesome rape, and that was why the real Pyramid Head was such a scary character. Not to mention Pyramid Head didn't even belong in the movie anyway.
2. Silent Hill is supposed to follow one person who interacts with only a handful of other characters who are relevant to the main characters problems with, I'm going to quote Yahtzee on this one, the town being the real monster, playing with everyone. The movie blew this off too, and opted to rely exclusively on the progression of the cult. There was nothing interesting about the main characters. They had no dark past, and outside of her daughter being the center of the cult, there was no reason for them to be there at all. The Silent Hill cult was not what made the games great, it was the development of an interesting character. Fuck the cult, fuck the rituals, I was expecting the development of a character with actual depth.
3. The Silent Hill games are notoriously short. A movie should have been able to pull off a complete story.

Yes, the BFG was named "Big Force Gun" but the Rock calls it "Big Fucking Gun", so it's still the BFG! :)

World_crafter: The movie was based on Silent Hill. It's a movie, not the game!
If you just try to enjoy it as a movie, you'll find that it's really awesome.
If the movies ain't allowed to offer something new, then what's the point of making them? The filmmakers can ofter twist and turn the story and concept to something a little different but still just as awesome. You gotta let them have a little room for creativity!

But sure, if you don't like the movie because they didn't make all the little details exacly like in the game, the that's too bad. Because it's a fucking sweet movie :)
