I recently formatted my computer and am trying to get VHE set up. I used to have a fdg that had sprites enabled for entities, like spawns, multisource etc... I have been to a bunch of sites but have had no success. A few sites I hoped would work just re-directed to Verc, which I think is where I originally got the fdg. If anybody knows somewhere that I can get the fdg, it would be delightful, thanks.

I tried both of them, still only have coloured blocks to show ent's. I am using VHE 3.5 beta, which I think is what I used before. Any suggestions?

Maybe the FGD has not model/sprite support in Hammer.

Do you have the sprites?

the model support definitely works for cs but i haven't mapped for cs in a while and i can't remember what fgd you have to use. If you try all the ones you can find you should find one that works.

You're still going to get blocks for most of the entities btw. the only entities i can think of that you get sprites for off the top of my head are ambient_generics and light entities, and obv the gordon model for info_player_start. Beyond that I can't think of any other entities that have sprites like that. = /

Then you didn't install it correctly. You need to unzip all the contents of the zip-file into your Hammer "root"-directory.

Arg! I tried it with the cs_expert-tom793_wc35 that Cptn. Terror linked too in the "root dir" of hammer which I assume is C:\Program Files\Valve Hammer Editor, and I have tried it in C:\Program Files\Valve Hammer Editor\fdg and it just won't freaking work. Is it possibly just the hammer I have?

yeah you put the fgd in the fgd folder and then go into hammer and pick that fgd. You took the sprites folder "CS" and dropped it into your hammer\sprites folder too?

You also have to have the hammer 3.5 beta executable. you just copy/paste it to your vhe directory. You can tell if it went through because this will pop up quickly when you open hammer:

i'll give it a try too if somebody tells me how to create a new profile under hammer options (like one for HL, CS, DoD, etc.) i can't figure out how to make a new profile! = )

What version of Hammer are you running? As long it is 3.4 or later it should work. If not, you're installing the fgd incorrectly, as I said earlier:

edit: as cactus said i guess you don't need to use vhe 3.5, but why wouldn't you want to? You get model support in hammer which works great. (you must also unpack your models and sprites using gcfscape to your your "models" and "sprites" directories in steam\half-life\valve directory if you want them to show up in hammer)

No, you need 3.5. It won't work with 3.4.

Get 3.5 here: http://www.themightyatom.nl/hldownloads/hammer_testbuild04.zip
