Bump.

Just finished the Mad Max trilogy on AMC.
It was the first time I'd seen the first and third, and the second time I'd seen the second.

Mad Max: Badass with a stronger plot than...
Mad Max 2: Badass classic with cool atmosphere but completely noncanonical to the first. Certainly better than...
Mad Max 3: Fucking horrible.

An American Werewolf in London, for the first time in years.

Still love it. The transformation scene is still impressive and disturbing.

I remember An American Werewolf in London, I think it came out sometime in the early 1980's, great film. Now, have you seen the trailers to the new, upcoming "The Wolfman" movie starring Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins? They have some funky transformation scenes that are really great! If you have not done so yet, try to watch both trailers #1 and #2 since they have different transformation scenes of the movie: http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/thewolfman/

I have to agree with Rimrook's take on 9, I think it's Tim Burton's finest work yet. Now, since we're on the subject of animation, I have to ask this: As anybody here has seen a recently released Japanese animated movie called "Ponyo"? I am just curious to know if it's good or not.
OOH.. i wanna see that too! Disney released it, so it's probably here in the states as well.

It's got the little brat that voiced chihiro (from spirited away) as the voice of ponyo

This weekend I saw:
  • Zombieland
  • 9
  • L?t Den R?tte Komma In
  • Pan's Labyrinth
All of them are good movies, though I must say I expected a bit more from Zombieland. The ending was so anticlimactic.

Just saw The Boat that Rocked.

5/10

I probably would have enjoyed it a hell of a lot more if the previews weren't so damn misleading.
This is a completely plotless movie. There's a premise, but absolutely no story is told and it's fucking long at 2 hours and 15 minutes.

It's more of a slice-of-life movie, and I feel it would have fared much better as a short TV series. Also, the entire movie would have been ten times better if they left out the British government all together, because it had absolutely nothing to do with the boat.

Funny, just not what I expected.

Edit: and most of the characters were unforgivably flat.

New Moon - I like it, it's better than Twilight, so if you thought Twilight was OK you should see New Moon, IMO.

I saw Twilight, and it pretty much sucked. It's a step up from the book, which, from what I've seen on the Internet and various reviews, is a steaming pile of horse shit. But its still a pretty bad film, as are all teen romance films, or for that matter, teen films in general.

@38_98 only girls like that movie, i never saw it because im not some 13-18 year old girl wanting to be with some 20-24 year old man. not saying you are. just most people in general who go to it are.

Movies I have watched in the last month:
*UP (Great Disney movie i thought)
*Charlies angles-1 and 2
*Austin powers - Goldmember (cant find the first two! but i like them all)
*City of Ember (i hated it, book is better)
*Cloudy with a chance of meat balls (loved the book as a kid, i liked Steve!)
*Beverly hills cop III (again, cant find the first two, but i have seen them, and they are all great)

that is about all!

Just saw 2012.
As with most apocalypse movies, the plot was pretty limited (it's an armageddon movie, what else could happen?). But, again the same as most end-of-the-world movies, the gratuitous descruction and special effects made this movie bearably nice.
Overall, around 7 to 8/10

EDIT:
Just saw (most of) Robots on TV.
I must say, this movie wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Still has some of the gimmicks that type of movie always has, but not bad anyway.
7/10.

I was forced to watch it on the bus to Canada's Wonderland once.
Gayest Movie ever. Don't beleive me? There was a scene where a guy made out with the neck of a guy who was dying of some fatal disease. (okay, he was turning him into a vampire, but still.)
Only good parts of the movie were when the girl almost got hit by a van (bastard saved her) and when she was mortally wounded (she survived)
Only thing keeping me from going insane during that were the observations my friend was making, which were all true, and all about holes in the plot, bad acting, ect.

The actual park was worth the trip and movie, but still. Gayest. Movie. Ever.

Ive never seen it but either way, if she almost got killed two times, and lived threw both, that there is a big mess up, surviving threw one was enough. to un-realistic, well, then again its vampires, but really, that's just way to many times to almost die.

I agree, I'm pretty sure my girlfriend is dragging me along to the new one next week. Though, my rewards for going with her are:
a.) whatever food she buys me
b.) sex
c.) her eternal gratitude for coming with her
d.) more sex
For the price of going to a movie she's undoubtedly paying to take me to just because she's such a Twilight fanatic? Definitely worth it.
i never saw it because im not some 13-18 year old girl wanting to be with some 20-24 year old man
Right, because your some 13 or under year old boy who could never get a woman since they're all apparently fantasizing about someone that is within a reasonable age range to most those girls and happens to be famous (although ugly as fuck).

As long as my girl never calls me "her Edward" I think I'll be okay with her liking Twilight...

Saw VI
Surprisingly good, and i should say i've never been a fan of the franchise, at all....

2012
<cheesy prolonged farting sound>

Even tho i really like John Cusack, this movie was extremely disappointing, especially when the producers try building hype for it with teaser trailers 2 years before the movie ever comes out. If you're gonna do that, the movie better be epic and that, this movie is not. =(

Twilight part deux: New Moon
Even crappier than the book and the book sucked some big dicks. (Pretty much all the books sucked except the first one) The theatre i was in tho was packed with little girls, all pretty much coming in their pants, so, i guess the twilight people know what they're doing... ;)

Funny ironic sidenote: Pretty much the whole Cullen family this time around look substantially older and fatter than from last year, even though they don't eat and aren't supposed to age. Well i thought it was funny, aw fml.. =)

I can see the historical people as 2012 approaches...
Now don't get me wrong, I'm religious and as a orthodox I do believe by the signs that the world is near its end, but when something gathers so much hype( or how do you say in modern terms), it's not as good as expected.

I'm saying that all this crap "the end in 2012" is useless. Man will never know exactly how many years ago the Universe began(actually maybe the Universe is in a infinite cycle) and exactly when the end of our world( actually maybe planet) will be.

This film is made for the stupid majority who loose their brain in a crowd...
I saw trailers, but I'm not going to watch the film.

We actually have sufficient evidence to say that the universe isn't in an infinite cycle, and that it will continue to expand forever :)

The visual effects in 2012 certainly look impressive. I'd check it out just to see how cool it looks.
Its just a disaster movie :)

Am I allowed to do this?

Saw Up over my Thanksgiving break.
Man, you know what? The first 10 minutes were incredible like any review will tell you, but it really doesn't deserve all the praise it's getting.

The villian is so forced, I mean he was only a villain so that the movie would have a bad guy. And an army of talking dogs and a gimmicky high-pitched tough-guy dog that can fly planes? I mean there were plenty of clever laughs, but there was also way too much slapstick [and not enough story] after Carl and Russel started pulling the house.
So aside from the great opening, it's a kid's movie through and through.

Still can't find that Russian movie...

You know, I have to agree with you on that.

I enjoyed Up, like any Pixar movie, but it didn't stand out as much as say Wall-E or The Incredibles. The intro was great, and very sad for a Pixar film, but the rest is a little mediocre in places. The dogs definitely felt like a Dreamworks act to me.

Still, like any Pixar nut, I'm buying it on BluRay.

Last movie I saw was Wes Craven's New Nightmare (A Nightmare on Elm Street 7), god knows why. 1/10 for hilarious serious death scenes.

Purely coincidental, but I thought this was sort of interesting.

The main theme of Up bears resemblance to a short piano song from the Elfen Lied soundtrack.

Very little of the horror is shown on screen; it's very psychological and MUCH scarier for it.

Movies of the future: Make all the action happen off screen, so that viewers must think about it instead. Saves money, and is much more exciting!

But I'm just being a dick, I guess I have to actually see it before I can legitimately badmouth it.

Seriously though, their movie trailer was of people in the theater watching the movie. This does not instill much confidence.
