Latvia is full of many different butterflies, but this is the most common one:
It is pretty much a very rich country nature wise, but sadly not monies wise. A very large part of the country hasn't been touched by humans so it has many areas full of creatures; massive forest areas, swamps, many lakes, many rivers and a large coast line with nice beaches. If your a nature lover you should visit it.

Anyway, about landscapes skals, Romania is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes, and if that's not true, then at least it's home to a very big variety of landscapes. We have it all: big mountains, hilly areas, fields... ahh... and I have the honour to live in a beautiful landscape too.
Hopefully I'll be able to finish a "no-comment" type of video presenting my area.

After I took this photo, I thought maybe I should try to make more macros of small electronic stuff, they look awesome when viewed at this size:
Also, some fireworks:
My skills didn't help in any way the fireworks shot, I put it in Auto Mode because I had to be quick(I only caught the last seconds of fireworks).

@DiscoStu: Oh, so you have DSLR? From what I know there are some kind of "inverting" adaptors so you can mount the lens in the other direction. Oh well, but I only heard of this I don't really know if it's possible.

That cat pic of yours, (c)Striker, has really nice colours. The stick and the two pole things in the background are somewhat distracting, though. But you can't really control where a cat's going to go, can you.

Here are some from me too. I rarely shoot RAW though, I feel it's a bit exaggerate.
There was a safe in the house when we bought it, but we don't have the key to it. Sadly it was open and had nothing inside.

The most important part is that you get the raw light data straight from the sensor, which you can later post-process to retrieve more detail in the image than the camera can generate for a JPEG.
Depends on each camera's own algorithm how close is the out of camera jpeg compared to its raw version, some get it better than others. My camera does a pretty good job and they look pretty much the same.
I'm fine with jpeg anyway, I don't really need to use RAW. But I'm glad I have it in case I ever need it.

What lenses do you have Strider?Standard 18-55mm lense, f/3.5 - 5.6. I use a polariser filter too, I think it makes a world of difference with outdoor shots. Can't afford a nice new lense right now. ;P

If I find places I think are too washed out, or overbright, I can usually tone them down just enough without losing much quality.
I"ve got a fair few pics I forgot to switch to RAW for and when looking at them later on the PC, it's kind of ruined them.

Damn, Caboose, you've been busy. Some amazing stuff in there. I love what you've done with the colours, I've always wanted to try working with really minimal colours, but I never like my results.

Yeah Striker, it's a hobby, but I'm considering maybe turning it into a career. Who knows. I'd always wanted to get into photography, but never really did anything about it until I ran into some money back in February and picked up a Nikon D3000. Not too great of a camera relative to every other DSLR Nikon makes, but it's cheap and certainly gets the job done. All those pictures were taken with that camera and the 18-55mm kit lens it came with.
