Hi!

Me and a friend of mine recently finished a mod for HL2 EP2 called "Mission Improbable".

It has 4 new levels, tons of new art content, a new character and around 2 hours of gameplay.

Here are some screenshots:

If you want to give it a go, or just see more screenshots, then you can do so here:

I hope you decide to play it, we worked very hard on it :)

I think I played an earlier release of this and I enjoyed it a lot. Looking at the updated screenshots, I will definitely play the full updated version. It looks pretty sick!

Downloading now. Playing tomorrow.

Holy shit. This looks better than Valve's works themselves!

Getting it. :walter:

EDIT

I'm having some troubles.
At the first loading screen, it seems to crash

EDITEDIT

Fixed, and I played through the entire thing.

Holy shit. This mod is like Dear Esther and Half Life 1 had a baby. You end up with an artistic masterpiece that may lack a bit of narrative but is filled with the most incredible gameplay.

It was so incredible. It's like if you had a dream about half life 2, in a way. Riding in a headcrab canister was my favorite part, and this mod is so creative and well made!

It looks really good, and there is some good use of colour correction there too!
I'll give it a go. The first mod I'd actually download from Moddb :D

Is this like a revamp for the original mod, or a second version? Anyways, it looks extraordinarily good, I will try it.

[EDIT] Jaw-hits-the floor. The landscape is a piece of artwork, and so is every detail. Haven't played much, just activated the antenna at the lighthouse, and it's a pleasure to see a graphic revamp of the mod. I really like it, it's easily comparable with the quality of Dear Esther in terms of atmosphere.

Haha. I'm at work right now and I know that this is sitting on my hard drive at home.

I'm now torturing myself by reading the posts in this thread. :(

A masterpiece has truly been created here. Everything in each level looked amazing, from wide open areas, to even the smallest indoor area, it all looked astonishing. And it's not just the brushwork and amount of detail that's amazing, the atmosphere is always great, and there is always ambience. To top it all up, there are also a load of awesome scripted sequences (Like snipers shooting crows for fun, zombies trying to break down windows), and the game-play is actually quite good too!
This mod does not dissapoint at all, in fact it actually exceeded my expectations which were quite high.

Brushwork - 10/10
Detail - 10/10
Atmosphere - 10/10
Lighting - 8/10
Ambience/Sound - 9/10
Voice acting - 10/10
Game-play - 10/10
Story/Script - 9/10

Overall - 10/10

Technically, you should stop being so technical.

Just finished this. Expectations blown out of the water. I'd say this is the best SP mod I've ever played. Better than Metastasis by a long shot.

I don't know what I played all those months ago, but it was nothing compared to what it's become. There were so many occasions where I would walk through a door and be completely shocked by what I found and even ending made me chuckle.

For those who haven't played this yet, don't deny yourself a truly entertaining experience.

I don't know if it's better than Minerva, but it's certainly pretty good. Nice variation of enemies and gameplay, and I liked the ending :P

Shit this looks amazing! I'm very tempted to reinstall hl2 and episode 2. Though not enough space on my steam hard drive for hl2 :(

btw, does anyone know if it's possible to install games on other drives from steam?

If you have bigger partitions with free space on the same drive with Steam, you can allocate more space to your Steam partition by using the Disk Management tool( Control Panel> System and Security> Administrative Tools> Computer Management> Disk Management).

If I had one gripe, it would be that during the sections with the car, there were some mapping errors and some invisible walls which killed it for me. I know that you are meant to speed through this area but I'm a curious bloke and I wanted to see what was out in the fields. Instead, I found myself bouncing off an invisible barrier above a waist high fence and just the other side was a wooden shack floating quite a distance above the ground.

Even Valve slips up with that though. The more freedom a player has, the more likely they are to find / break something. I found a huge chunk of ocean on Highway 17 in HL2 the other day where the leeches don't attack and you can swim all the way down to the ocean floor. :P

I remember getting really pissed in this mod at one point. I went through some long fight with a bunch of hunters, waited ages for this elevator to come down, and when I got into it, it drove through me and killed me :| - and then I respawned miles back D:

Can't say that happened to me. Thing is, it wouldn't have bothered me that much if it had since I quicksave like there's no tomorrow.
