Lol, i ask stupid questions like this all the time here, but they're the stupid things they don't answer for some reason, I just wanna know, HOW DO YOU DO PLANTS?!
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-12 01:29:48 UTC Post #40579
I think you mean, How do you make plants?
I think you use a monster_furnature entity, in the "model" box enter u_plant.
Try this, I'm not sure about the result though.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe, but this is a big map i'm putting it in, so if anyone knows for sure, PLEASE TELL ME!

I thought that might be the case
Well, make a small map to test it in. That way you wont have to wait for it to compile for as long.

uplant1.mdl

If you want a pot, etc, just stick that model on top of a brush-pot.

Alternatively you could used custom masked textures (ones with blue on) or sprites.

models/u_plant1, u_plant2, u_plant3. You can use a monster_furniture, or cycler. They have animations, though, so they might look a little odd as they wave around.

You sure they have underscores? HMLV isn't showing any for those models.

Umm...what am I smoking?

...I blame lack of coffee for my error. They are uplant1, 2 and 3. No underscores.

mMM....coffee. Now I can keep mapping for another hour or two.

If you map for Cstrike, JujitsuMan, take a look in the GCF (I assume you have steam.) de_piranesi has some nice trees, as well as de_airstrip.

there is a tutorial somewhere on trees, I know that.

It is quite easy, and there are many different ways.

I've been here 217, but I am too lazy to look up links.

I'm accually pretty new, if you think about it.

My favorite way to make trees is to do them with brushes. Models are fun n' all, but you have more freedom (In my view) with brushes.

brushes are easier and look better too :D

If you wanted to add a model in CS what would you use? As I can't seem to find a monster_furnature entity.

'cycler' or possibly 'cycler_sprite'
