for having a sound loop continually? I have a WAV of computer sounds and I'd like it to continually play.

I'm guessing it's a custom sound, so you want this.

When you make your ambient_generic thingy, click the loop thingy.

Thanks for the info, Seventh. My sound editors don't add "cues" and CoolEdit 2000 is now Adobe Audition and out of my price range. Anyone have any other suggestions for low cost (read: free) .WAV editors that add cues?

BL, my ambient _generics don't have loop thingys in the flags tab... that must be in Spirit. BUT is it possible to add a key to the ambient_generic with smartedit off? And, if so, what would it be called?

If you want real freeware, have a look at audacity.

Or if you want real decent software and are indifferent to dubious legality, get Sound Forge 6 from an old mirror or p2p network (it's since been replaced with the unpleasant Sony Sound Forge 7).

Goldwave is what I use. Its great.

I had soundforge6 but it was alot more than I needed. I'm not a soundhead... just need programs for file conversions. And the legality... well, let's just say that possesion is 9/10ths of the law. The serial number is 1/10th the law, so having both = legal. The cooledit2000 is just fine. And I'm sure I can make the 30 day trial a bit longer, if I need to.

Ok... cool edit 2000 wasn't what I wanted. Faster to obtain Soundforge6.

Now, I'm not trying to build up a post count here. I have searched the web and the instructions with soundforge and (I imagine because soundforge doesn't call them "cues") I can't figure out how to make a .wav loop. PLease don't tell me you set the loop playback button and hit "Save as..." because it can't be that easy.

Damn, that was difficult to figure out... but I got it. I've got computer buzzes, sparkish sounds, and Iron Maiden's "Wrathchild" playing in the hallway loudspeakers.

huhn... I set some markers, make something (a block of time) out of it, and then save it as a PCM .wav 22050, mono.
