In addition to generally messing up online play for me and shifting my hl files, I did some research and found that steam is to blame for other things too.

Steam is to blame for:

Apartheid
Impotence
Cancer
War
Celine Dion
International Terrorism
The War on Terror
The Industrial Era
The 21st Century not being as good as we were led to believe (I'm STILL waiting for my hover bike and giant robots)
pop-rock/nu metal
the crucifixion of Our Lord
Original sin
And is its next update will cause The Apocolypse

Have I missed any?

Posted 20 years ago2004-08-16 14:05:25 UTC Post #51362
BUZZZ! Wrong answer 6th, the correct answer was....

global warming! :P :P

(this is a dumb spammy thread but i thought steam hating could be released here without disturbing other ones)

STEAM SUCKS SO BAD it isn't funny.

i think steam is to blame for:

Sasquatch or you could call him the Yetti or BigFoot
Locknessmonster
and for strange fish found in the deep depths of the ocean!
:D

It is true that i have a pc most sucky, but steam is a very aggressive little program. WON never bothered me, steam hates me. I object to being FORCED into steam and i object steam pulling and hauling at MY half life (i paid for it).

May steam blow up in a cloud of steam!

It's pointless. I don't need a special program to show me the custom games menu, thank-you very much. Updating? Fine. New servers, better browser, etc, sure thing. Pointless extra program? Unnecessary!

Its not overly complicated just invasive and oppresive to my sucky machine
Then just don't use it... simple... I mean, you could always simulate a LAN network over the internet and play against some friends...
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-17 08:12:03 UTC Post #51562
so explain us how cp
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-17 08:31:20 UTC Post #51565
I've never tried it but it has to do with VPN (Virtual Private Network), e.g. simulating a LAN over internet. When you're interested, I'd say contact Devastator, or do some research... :)

I f***ing hate steam! The day that I could start pre-loading CS:S, it freezes up! Why isn't there any non-steam thing that's just as good!?!?!?!?! :x

Posted 20 years ago2004-08-17 12:50:08 UTC Post #51593
Steam caused:

Hurricane Charley - God was angry with Valve's strange thoughts

Materialism - Like those annoying chart music fans with more money than sense

Thousands upon thousands of Shrek-like women taking over the world - And you know it's true

Both of them suck. :
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-17 15:48:02 UTC Post #51654
WON= Hard to update, but less bugs.

Steam= Auto updates, but the source of all viruses.
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-17 16:02:45 UTC Post #51655
Viruses? Never heard of.
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-17 16:06:23 UTC Post #51656
I got a virus from the Trojan family (it was called Trojan Horse) from Steam. Probably while downloading a map. :|
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-17 16:33:29 UTC Post #51659
Then who says you can't get viruses from downloading maps from, say, this site? Might happen just as well...

Well, in both cases virusses aren't fun...

and how is that steams fault?
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-17 16:43:50 UTC Post #51663
Because it doesn't have a built-in virus protection program! :x
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-17 17:10:52 UTC Post #51668
If you have a half-decent virus-scanner, it should block all incoming viruses.

Jahzel kills pepper with crowbar

For some, very strange reason there exists the phenomenon of people who actually like Steam!

like druged up ppl (not pointing fingers ;))
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-17 18:14:47 UTC Post #51679
Now that floater has a blue av, I can't tell which is mine and his while scrolling really fast! Ah!

Steam Sucks. There might be a way. What if something more advanced than steam comes out and takes over? and what if someone shoots a virus killer out and it kills every single computer virus and the stupid nerds who made them die of heart attacks at what happened to their creation? This all might happend. The end of steam, and viruses. Bad things on computers go bye bye forever. but anyway, I have my virus vaccinations, so I think I'm safe, although my last computer died of a virus.
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-18 16:26:37 UTC Post #51899
what do you mean a 'virus killer'. If retards would stop making programs that do EVERYTHING for you, like IEs 'open file first, ask questions later' approach, your computer would be safe from viruses. You'll notice that the most stable and secure programs are the smallest and frill free ones (like the lovely mozilla firefox). Viruses only happen because invasive programs take over everything an leave very little up to you. Like..........STTTTEEEEEAAAAAAAM (though i doubt you got viruses from it)
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-18 17:30:31 UTC Post #51919
steam eats doggy poo :x
Posted 20 years ago2004-08-18 17:43:03 UTC Post #51924
What's wrong with steam? I think it's pretty good - It didnt even touch my won installation, easy server browser with better filtering(allthough I use ASE for that :P) a friends network, fast file downloads, a stable anti-cheat system.

The only bad thing about it is the friends system is almost always down "due to maintance work". But hey that'll get better.
