Hello Im currently making a map for half life and I need some help. I made a bridge that is invisible and I need just before the player gets to it a message to popup on their screen telling them something.

make a trigger_once like trigger a env_text :D

Well my map is a climb type map and I was using a trigger_multiple (because people can fall and come to the same point again) that would trigger env_message but I cant get it to work.

are u sure that the triggers target is the same as the env_message cause u can make mistakes sumtimes lol :D

yes, game_text's are better, because with env_message's you have to edit the titles.txt. alright this is what you should do:
make a game_text entity put set it's name to whatever you want,
then make a box that the player can run through and put it as a trigger_once, in it's target properties put the name of your game_text.

Alright I created a trigger_once for the player to walk through with target "Seeing is Believing". I then more towards the middel of the map created a game_text with name "Seeing is Believing" and target "Seeing is Believing" with the Message Text "Seeing is Believing".

dont use spaces or capital letters in the entity name. keep it short, something like "sib" or "txt1". and the message name is different from the name field. message name is what will appear on the screen, name is what you should be targetting to activate the text.

i didn't get it, i got the first one you sent me with the .rmf attatchment, but i didnt get the other two with the .zip attatchments

BeaMeR, i had a map made with text's in it, but it was never finished, i could e-mail it to you, and you could take a look how i got the text to work. You can do whatever you want with it, i wont finish it, you can finish it and post it if you want.

I feel like a idiot and let me explain why. Stupid me never changed the output path a my compiler so it was trying to copy my map to the old directory see I renamed my mod without change that. It works perfect now and thank you to everyone who helped. Oh and BTW Floater619 your map is awesome but for some reason none of the monsters appear I will take a look at it in a few.

I figured out the problem right after I posted it see I was running my map in my own custom mod and I put your map in their not considering the fact that I dont have any of those models in the correct folder.

BTW, if your playing the map, watch out for the helicopter. :)

The helicopter never attacked me it just kept going higher and higher till is disapeared and the grunts never appeared.
