Why do all you playaz dispise the great game of Halo? It never copied anyone, in fact creators of Half-Life took the ideas from Bungie and not the other way around... Come on people use your sense of fun and don't be an ignorameous... OK? OK good!!!

Its a great game, fun, and has great graphics. You really couldn't compare Half-Life 2 to Halo 2 since both are seeking different audiences and are totally different approaches to the new gaming world.

I like both, and will get both, and will like it.

TOOK THE IDEAS FROM BUNGIE? HL came out before Halo, you do realize? And development was started on 2 once the original was released.

Halo isn't really bad, I just fail to see what's incredibly great about it. Sure, the graphics are nice, but what's with the story? Imo, it's just another generic Aliens vs. Humans FPS with a subpar story - and it's the storyline that really counts for me.

I agree, Godly, are an idiot, how could VALVE copy Bungie, when Halo was released a few years after half-life?

Halo and Halo2 may not bring anything totally new to a game genre, but they have something that alot of games fail to get, multiplayer that works perfectly, sure half-life has a mp, but it is not great, and is bland, and sure there are mods for it, but they are one thing, halo and halo2 are a do what you want game, you can customize so much to make whatever you want.

It is just great fun to play, story may be not as great as half-life, but it is quite good, and extremely good fun to play.

Neither game copied off the other one so just leave it at that. Godly made a very very stupid mistake and he isn't the only one. Halo 2's story line was great. You say it was just another alien vs human story. You obviously haven't played all the way through both games and you have a simple mind to conclude. Half Life's story and Halo's both have some details in common but Halo is certainly not a rip off. They are both going after different audiences so for every 5 people that hate Halo there will be 5 people that hate Half Life. That's how it is and it is a useless argument. Also why would you want to close this thread? It's not like he jumped in here and started flaming everyone. He simply asked a question. I have been reading many of your threads for a while but rarely post. I can tell you that If I was a moderator. There would be many of your guy's threads that would be locked due to the vast stupidity and immaturaty that many of you have expressed. So don't go off on someone else when you yourself act worse.

There is a great storyline to Halo also if you pay attention...

The backround information is that there is a holy war throughout the galaxies. After the humans discovered space travel, they met a most curious bunch of life forms that called themselves the covenent. The covenent is a group of alien races that have banned together to form a large religious society. They have read their Bibles, and are pretty much Christians, hence the name covenent, meaning a great promise with God. They believe that humans are demons, devils of the land, and believe it is their mission to destroy them all in the name of God.

That takes us to the story presented in the game. You are Master Cheif, a soldier who was wounded in battle and transformed into a kind of superhuman. You fight for the humans and are their secret weapon against the covenent forces that strive to find earth, the home of humans. When you ship, the Pillar of Autum, is attacked by covenant forces when your team is researching the giant ring structure found in the galaxy (Halo), you are forced to crash land on the giant object, there starting the story that leads into great plot twist, and introducing new characters.

Halo 2 is about the Covenant finnaly finding Earth. Thats all I know about it now, since all I saw was the trailor in the movie theature.

Geez can no one get the damn story right. The covenent are not Christians you dope. They have their own religion and believe that the prophets shall find them salvation through the power of the rings. They believe the humans are the infidels and that it is their mission to rid the galaxy of all human life. While the human military planet Reach is underattack the Pillar of Autumn launches through space to the cordinates that Master Chief had previously found. A couple of large Covenent ships follow the Pillar of Autumn to the ring and then that is where the game Halo starts.

I just meant that their religion kind of related to Christianity, not that it was, lol. I sometimes have trouble getting across my point in words, sorry. I just wanted to point out that the covenant's mission was similar to that of Chiristians during the crusades. I speak metaforically some times. Bugies does use words like covenant to relate to Christianity, since that is where the word came from.

How did you know that backround info? I just read what was in the instruction manuel and I did not remeber that being there. Is there like a place you can read it on a Bungie website, cause its an interesting story, although I remember nothing about a place called Reach.

The humans made up the word Covenant cause they are christian. It has nothing to do with the "aliens".

Read the books if you want to learn a lot lot more about the Halo story.

I have Halo 1 and 2 and the original Half-life. The only reason I like HL better than Halo is the fact that I can create my own levels. As of right now I prefer the Halo gameplay (sp and mp) to HL but that will probably change when I get HL2. IMO both are top notch games, and I play lots of games.

the story you see in the original halo actually differs alot from halo 2. in halo, you see the humans side of events, and know nothing more than that they are being attacked by a bunch of religious aliens. after halo, the covenant find sketchy information collected by the monitor on earth. after halo was destroyed and the covenant found him, they collected the information and sent out a small fleet to take care of the remaining humans on earth. unfortunately for them they didnt find out that earth was the human homeworld. they thought that reach, the planet they destroyed before halo, was the humans home. then lots of stuff happened, and at the end of the game the master chief took off his helmet and was really a woman! and thats why you dont listen to people on the internet. just like the ideas that MC dies, or earth blows up, or he joins the covenant.

and mop, halo wasnt made specifically for xbox. it was only thrown in at the last minute. halo started off as an RTS on the PC.

You are absolutely right ministeve. It was orginally suppose to be an RTS for mac but then things changed and it became and FPS for Mac and then Bungie began running outa money so Microsoft helped them out and they made it an Xbox exclusive. Halo had change a lot over the years of its development. You can see some of the original screens of the game at Bungie's website.

and on the DVD with halo 2 (special edition). bloody typical of bungie. my brother used to always play LAN games of marathon with his friend. says the multiplayer is the shizz. shame its not on pc.
