in the Febuary issure of PC gamer, which i got to day, was a timeline according to PCG. it was funny and the last parts were (points to topic name).
and for all the people who won't/haven't/can't(through non-subscription or illiteracy) read it, here the last three parts are.
1776:
Declaration of Independence signed. The missing manual for Half-life? is hidden on the back.
1812:
The war of 1812 begins, marking the first U.S. war not to inspire a FPS.
1844:
First telegraph line is built between Baltimore and Washington. Unfortunately, it's powered by Steam-the first message takes six hours to authenticate and transmit.
like i said, my feelings exactly becasue:
a. i read the manuals on the way home from shoping to curve my need to play a new game.
b. all the other wars america was involved in have been done to many times, the the pretty much forgoten by americans war of 1812.
c. i hate steam to.
say i if you think valve went overboard with the copy protection this time.

i would like the "security" to stop too. my HL2 files needs verification all the time according to steam, and it takes 10 minutes everytime.

Mine used to do that, then i got annoyed and pressed cancel/stop/whatever the option may be, and it don't do it any more.

PCGamer SUCKS. They billed me for about 10 subscriptions when I clearly ordered a single one, kept sending me a "OHNOEZ j00r subscription has eckspired!!!11! Re-n00 now!!!" and they did that for about 5 issues, then I stopped returning the stupid little cards. The last issue I got, the Jan. one sucked anyways, the whole thing was WoW strategy/review. And I have no intention of playing that since I just got my Diablo II cd's back
