I never thought I would be asking for help with a game, but here it goes.
I'm at the part with the car that you drive around. I have already put it in that garage and killed all the attackers to the area. This is the area with the lighthouse, and the little path over the cliff by the lighthouse.
My problem is, how do I get to the path?
I have explored everywhere, and have spent hours trying to figure this out, and now I want to pull out my hair. There is a little keypad in the basement of the lighthouse, and a section that looks like the frame of a door in a light shadow. When I press the keypad, it makes funney noises and then nothing.
HELP!
IM pissed that I can't beat HL2 because of this small inconveniance.

You don't get to the path. Valve are idiots and fucked up somewhere in the mapping process. Fuck them.

Have you taken down the combine gunship yet? You cannot open that door yourself, a guy takes you to it after you take the gunship down.

If nu'n else works, restart the chapter and hope for the best. Or quickload.

Well,
I did take down the Gunship... but...
The dude who was suppose to open the door decided it was a good idea to charge the gunship... and... hes pudding right now.
I guess Ill backtrack and try and save that idiot during the fight.

It could very well be a mapping problem. I ran into one of these myself where you first get the gravity gun and meet DOG. I was stuck in that valley for a long time with no way out and finally had to restart the chapter. When I got back to that same place I didnt do anything different, but it let me through.

I had a similar problem when trying to get through the gate where you first get the rocket launcher. Bastard refused to open.
