how come when i compile my map, my lights make light in one direction, only that little spot, and the rest of my map is pitch black? should i just get another compiler? thanks for any help in advance

i'm using just the regular Light entity, i'll try brightness, but it seems to be up, its at default values right now, its a strange patern of lighting and dark that i took a screenshot of but i cant post it : , whatever, i'l keep trying

does anyone have a link to a place i can download nem's batch compiler? because i used that b4 i got my new computer, and it actually worked as far as hlrad and lighting!! and it didnt take it 15 seconds to compile the lights eigther!
anyway, i also need a link because the nem's site is dead aka i cant get it from them for some reason, and i really would like it! if anyone can supply a link, that would be teriffic!! thanks!!!

Hang on.. do you have leaky maps? and are you using the default tools? becuase if you are, then rad runs direct lighting only, which would explain 30 lights not giving much light.

by the way when using a lights.rad file... They can be customized for different maps...
For example... if your making a map called "bingo" then you would name the lights.rad file--> bingo.rad, this way you can use a combination of lighter or darker colors instead of always the same shade of color for one texture throughout your mod!
Say for bingo.bsp... you needed a lighter blue light for a texture, but for bingo2.bsp you needed a darker blue light for the same texture.
You would make two seperate rad files--one called "bingo.rad" and another called "bingo2.rad", with the changes. And thats it, i thought I'd add this because its not covered in the tutorial--(I don't think?)
