I just rebuilt my computer and re-installed everything that has to do with HL mapping. I open hammer and set it up to just the right settings and everything (I know they are right). When I create a new map I click on one of the editing windows and Hammer will get one of those (Hammer has encountered a problem and needs to close) messages and Hammer then crashes. I just got the latest nvidia drivers too so I don't know what the problem is.

Try a different version, 3.4 if 3.5b, vice-versa.

I re-installed Hammer to a new directory with no spaces in the same, and now it works. I can't get enough of that smooth grid scrolling, those sweet 3d images and the highly technical looking wireframe view. Yep. I'm not going away for a looooong time.

Go HL1! :P

:D I had the same problem after I reloaded WinXP on my PC. But, it fixed itself the next day....

Isn't it funny how a simple "do it over" fixes everything with windows?
