If you've read the latest Steam news, seems valve will be releasing a new DM map. Apparently they haven't decided the winner of the HL2DM mapping contest (which makes me a bit angry)
Is it my imagination, but doesnt this map look like a remake of datacore from HLDM??? I know the textures and lighting have nothing to do, but I've recognised the layout in these screenshots. See for yourselves:

Some people in the STEAM forums have recognized it as well... I dont know why Valve would need to use parts of the layout of a map they made more than 6 years ago.
I think datacore is a cool map, but still... I hope they are concentrating their mapping imagination on their HL2 expansion :

I think it's an official map.
It's similar, but I'll definitely play it loads since Datacore was one of my favorite maps.

I searched it the other day, but I cant find anywhere where it says that map has won... I think VALVe should have emailed the contest participants, so at least we know they got the map even if it doesnt win a prize.
It sure looks better than other maps, but it's going to lag more than dm_overwatch in my computer... I guess I'll end un playing Steamlab, even if it really turns out to be a remake of datacore... as Rabid pointed out, datacore was good. I think HLDM is great, it's graphics are just... well... Old.

Maybe they tried to appeal to people who liked Datacore?
I think it would be really nice to play in a familiar layout. Datacore was the first DM map i've played sniff

Rapidcore was the best map, its was beatiful and nobody ever played it. Fun and brilliantly designed.

As some of you have already seen, Steamlab is in a fact a full remake of datacore. Apart from the obvious texture changes and prop additions, the map layout is almost completely the same (some stairs instead of a ladder, a couple of small new hallways with items)
It looks ok, I wouldnt mind seeing a remake of subtransit or an official crossfire sequel by VALVe

There have been many assault maps made by the public and they all stink!

I mean, they did it (or, rather, are doing it) with CS:SI don't believe they're remaking all. Backalley and Assault are probably not going to get official ports and are gonna be replaced with cs_compound and the other 'new' official maps. There's a de_train on the way, though (do a texture filter for it) and there was some militia stuff in the beta's version of the GCF.
