Hey,

Anyone remember me? It has been a while since I've been here. Most of my previous posts have been while I was at work. Now I have a new job and I don't have access anymore.

Anyway... my problem is that after the last update in January (I think) Hammer wont start up anymore. I have tried reloading the SDK content but that didn't work. When I try to start Source SDK it says it's loading and then the loading screen goes away and it doesn't start. Anyone else have the same problem? Anyone have any ideas? I would rather not completely reinstall Half-life because I'm not sure I still have all the discs.

PS. My OS is windows xp x64

not sure but it could be that you are running x64...... try googling 'source sdk and 64 bit' or something like that and see if others are having the same trouble.

Thanks for the tip. There are other people having this problem. I was just on a valve forum and a developer said there is a compatability problem with x64 and they will release a fix as soon as they can.

I guess I will be taking a break from mapping.

Question: Is 64 bit really worth it?

No, not yet. There are a lot of bugs in x64. Most printers wont work with it. Some games are not compatible (most major titles are). HL2 automatically detects 64bit but I can't tell any difference.

I will probably buy Vista when it comes out and hopefully it will be more compatible.

When they start making applications that are designed for 64 bit it will probably make a bigger difference.
