* A long and fun series of levels with adventure - under development [/quote]
If this is a serious project, that last part about the levels is the first and main thing your team should be working on. Before tweaking weapons, before making model renders, before creating a custom webpage, before trying to recrute people, etc.
I don't mean to be offensive. But you need to think about it to prevent the failures of 90% of mod projects.

There is no such thing as "failure."

Yes, there is.

Indeed there is. Trust Kasperg, Srry and I when we say you should map before you ask for others to join.

Indeed, there is failure, in fact the sad truth is that in the end most mods fail.

Too little information. You need design documents, a detailed outline of the maps, concepts...

A few lines of story isn't enough.

New mod I am working on - WIP -
What is this? Seriously?
New mod I'm Working!?!
New mod I DESIGNED

Just write the name of the mod and if its for hl1 or hl2 and if its wip or not. And mapping always comes first for a mod team who likely wants to success. Well, at least in my opinion.

whoa whoa whoa WHOA!!!! Only been like 1 day and all this non-sense posts. There is no such thing as failure, it's a fact. A mod can't just bleep error mod failed :P. Mod's never just FAIL. They only "fail" (stop) if development is halted. I could easily make a test map, start coding and editing the weapons. Then impulse 101 and try them out. Mod's do not fail. Also there is no percentage -

Your pretty positive ;). (lol jk)

Kinda doesn't really matter in my opinion. I'm doing this project just for entertainment and fun for others. Also not to compete in "which is the best mod?" sort of thing. It's just for fun and the heck of it :). Thanks for the help though. I dunno if you guys know or not that i'm under 15....creating a mod and into game developing .

Oh and Sajo

I'll be working on that, the maps need done first so I can make some nice media. Thanks.

Me and Ultragamer are putting forward into our mod, I do agree with most of the persons straight forward opinions but however your suggestions will make our mod a whole heck of a lot better. This mod is way way from completion and from other mod groups that I have joined, the reason why most mods do fail is because of well put it this way "life" has gotten to them, jobs, girlfriend, family, etc.

Also it could be because of laziness

It makes sense, but if it's just a thing you're doing for personal entertainment, don't expect much enthusiasm or outside interest without some sort of convincing media. A lot of mods never become anything because they have a wrong starting point. For example, the webpages are made before they even know how many maps the mod is going to have.

The first thing any mod needs to consider is the gameplay values and features. I see you've altered some things to change a few existing aspects, but what else is there?

As far as mapping goes, it should come first, but in it its design phaze. Draw things out and get the flow on paper and how it relates to everything first before you start making brushes, progress will go much faster if you know what you are doing.

A secondary goal is to gather all of your resources, like textures, sketches, ideas, sprites, models, animations, and so on.

Lastly after you have everything, you can piece it all together within mapping the final versions of everything. So yes and no, mapping is the first and last step.

Don't let media get in your way unless you plan to inspire others to get recruits on your project, or in 6D's case, media to help understand the concept and design. Or even better, a 5 minute demo or something.

That's a pathetic excuse for making a crappy thread name. Why do people have to do this? It gets on my nerves SO much. They name their thread things like "I'm having a problem", "look at this", "check out this cool thing", or "I'm working on a new project". For fucks sake, just name the thread about the contents of it, not the actions you're taking! Just saying that it's a work in progress is NOT enough. There's few mods here that aren't in this stage.

Yep, exactly

That was a one weird excuse.
