The screenshots i've seen so far look very promising!

Even if you have an old hallway section from an old map you'd like to submit, post that anyway.

But Remember that it's a halway, not a room... ;)

Moar tips:
  • Keep it simple and subtle.
  • Details in floors, ceilings work better in hallways - Details on walls are best left in "rooms".
  • Remember what a hallway IS. Avoid making something that looks too much like it could be it's own "room"
Hallways don't have any "functions" apart from getting you from one end to the other.

MuzzleFlash - erm... clip brushes? (I always wanted to say this to someone, since I've hardly used those to unstuck the player LOL)

I strongly disagree with you on this. The entries are generally done in a short amoutn of time, yes, but they most certainly aren't a cinch to make by any means. Tetsuo's kicthen entry, Srry's statues entry, and my Viper entry stand tall and proud as testaments to how much work goes into these things.

LOL, just did an r_fullbright on replica's map, and the textures on the walls strangelly reminded me of that DRR DRR strip. Scary :confused:

2) I did, and i can release them if you want.
3) It was going to be a T shaped corridor, connecting two door ways and a service hatch (was going to be longer).

Strider, that was looking pretty awesome. Too bad you have to drop out. One less entry for me to worry about I guess...
Hopefully what I'm doing will get me a spot in the top 3, I seem to find myself focusing far more on atmosphere than complex brushwork.

My hallway is done. I just need to texture it now! :)

To my fellow competitors, do not be alarmed. My map is boring and bland and undetailed cos I only started about 2 hours ago and the deadline is in 3 days. :zonked:

I was obviously referring to the fact the image screwes up the site layout.

Also, about judging the maps... Most of the IRC regulars are entering the compo, so that pretty much leaves me and kol to judge... unless he enters too LOL.

I'm up to it, since it seems most of the members who usually do the map comparing are too busy.
