Hi boys!

I am currently working on a cs 1.6 map. Everything is turning out great except for 2 issues I can't seem to resolve.

1) I have been using "Cycler" for all of my models in the map (trees/statues/pillars) but they seem to BLEED when I shoot them. Is there a way to turn OFF this feature or must I go with "cycler_SPRITE" and use clip-brushes? Which option is better?

2) I am trying to achieve a "flame/fire" on top of a lantern, and used "cycler_SPRITE" for this. But when I compile the map I can see the flame AND the black background. Is there a way to fix this?

Once again, thanks for any advice and I would like to apologise ahead of time in case I posted in the wrong place.

well... for the bleeding model proplem, use Monster_Furniture instead. It'll solve the bleeding prob.

For the fire sprite, did you try switching the render mode to additive or solid with a fx_amount of 1?

I always thought that "monster_furniture" could only be used in a Half-Life map and not its mod=CS. But I do have this option in valve hammer. So Ill give it a shot.

As of the fire, I cant really remember what I did I just fiddled around to see what would work. lol. I give your a idea a try as well. Thanks for the advise Ill post my results.

Oh sweet, I was so annoyed by bleeding models too, I'll keep this in mind in future.

Err... I don't think it IS in CS. It must be a custom FGD, because the default one doesn't have any monster_ entities in it.

I have the most updated hammer, with the newest FGD. The monster entities are available and I can also see the model itself in hammer. Only thing is.. when I compile the models don't appear.. so I'm in the process of messing with the settings withing the entity.. like texture and such. If it makes a difference I will post again.

Thanks,

You can't use monster_furniture in CS. If it's in your fgd you're using the HL fgd and not the CS one, to add models in a cs map user the cycler_sprite entity.

Yes, I have the hl FDG, NOT THE CS. Guess I'm going to have to use the "cycler_sprite" entity. Damn that means I'm gonna have to use a hell of a lot of clip brushes! :zonked:

So what is the point in having "cycler" available?

You would have to use clip brushes anyway, unless you wanted nothing other than a big box around the model for the clipping.
