I think people need to use more convincing pics in their fakes.

The first one is actually almost believable aside from the lighting. The second one shouldn't have been used.

The first one looks pretty good, supposing that's actually an ingame screenshot. The handrail implies a possibility of such a thing being true, as I don't come across railings like that too often outside the HL world. But in that small resolution, you can never be too sure.

As for the second one, that's not motion blur - that's camera shake. FAKE!!11

O right. SHOPPRD!!11!ONE

Those are the fakiest fakes that have ever been faked.

I don't understand. Why destroy the feeling that it's real through the 2nd screenshot? The first one is somewhat believable.

Those may be fake, but its more likely Valve is going go unvail their sequel to the Source Engine: Source Engine 2, so i guess that part is plausible (not confirmed).

Yeah, and I heard that they've taken over the development of Duke Nukem Forever, too.

Sigh...Some people will believe anything.

A whole heap of crappy rumours have popped up recently. E3 is sending people into frenzies, I think.

I'm pretty confident "Source 2" is a long way off, and when it does come it'll be a slightly beefed up Source anyway. Valve tell us their engine is totally modular and able to keep up with modern tech, but there isn't a whole lot of proof there, honestly. I'd love Valve to prove me wrong this E3, though.

Whatever their E3 surprise is, it's Portal 2 related, and apparently of little interest to console users. Kinda narrows it down to something SDK related, a PC demonstration, or something totally boring now that they've delayed it.

Everyone says that these are both fake, but noone has explained why they think these are fake..

With the new Direct 11 features, both these pictures are very plausible!

2nd one is a poor attempt at being fake. That's why it's obvious.

First one had me fooled for a second. Then I noticed subtle things like the Biffa container (don't see many REAL brand names in Valve games)

Also, no screens of Ep3 in 4 years and I'm supposed to believe development on HL3 has started? Pfft.

http://panther37.com/pics/HalfLife3-pre.jpg - Possible, but I doubt they'd change the colour of the crowbar.
http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/1659/hl3demosourceengineek6.jpg - Not real-time-rendered, probably also Photoshopped.
http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/7215/1248200811580.jpg - Too blurry and the HUD is too ugly.

Eh... no. Graphics cards aren't advanced enough to produce such lighting in real-time, whether they get their instructions through DirectX 11, 10, 9, OpenGL or anything else.

Most of those with weapons look like the weapons PS'd into a picture. Why would the weapons be lo-q and the rest of the environment be hi-q?

The first "screenshot" of the three above is older than human history, seen that one two years ago, certified fake. The third one is an overdone HDR photo I recall from flickr.

10,9

Though through optical illusion you can simulate reality. Like 3D objects were simulated through sprites in the past.

Surely nobody is gullible enough to think, even for a second, that Half-Life 3 actually exists in any form, let alone have screenshots leaked for it?

These are all incredibly fake.

The lighting is far too natural in the first one and you can see a heap of photography artifacts. The second one is a joke, and just a terrible photo to boot. The next two have been around for a long time and are built from concept art. The fifth is clearly another poorly taken photo.

When you think about the way games are rendered, you can easily tell how fake these are. That or they're using AA/AF/AO more advanced than anything else in existence. DirectX 11 isn't that good.

ZombieLoffe's had me fooled for a second.

Yeah he had me too, but then it dawned on me that closed captions in HL use a different typeface. HA! Fools.
