Hello Twhl!

I call out to any and all artists that visit this site.

My band is looking for an artist who can draw the artwork for our album.

This is not small undertaking, and in recognizing this, whoever is selected will be paid for their contributions. Yes ? real money in the form of a bank check made out in your name from ME! (the band, really, but I?m taking care of business on this one)

So if anyone would like to ?try out? for the position please make a drawing of one of these scenes, and if we like the artwork, we will negotiate a contract.

We?re looking for a serious artwork style. Black and white only.. very dark.. very serious.. Can be cartoonish or real. ? Think of an American graphic novel ? along the lines of Frank Miller.

?

Scene 1:? A man (late 20?s ? 30?s) sitting in a chair in the middle of a room. There is one spotlight directly over him. He is hunched forward with his face in his hands. Chem-lab equipment can be seen in the background.

Scene 2: A woman (late 20?s ? 30?s) is seen on the ground, dead. She has been stabbed many times. A man is kneeling down next to her holding her limp body. The background? is a city ? the woman and a man are in the middle of the street. ? It?s raining, night time.

Scene 3: A drug addict behind bars in an old prison cell, and a scientist in a labcoat taunting him with a needle. The man behind bars is ragged, going through withdrawals, desperate to get out ? clinging on the bars pleading for his life.

?

?

If anyone can capture the mood described in any of these 3 settings you?re the person we?re looking for.

Jesus, what kind of music are you guys writing?
Good luck on finding an artist, though.

He is hunched forward with his face in his hands. Chem-lab equipment can be seen in the background.
Should this be hands on the face or hands on the forehead with palms over the eyes? Hands on the face would imply shame or sorrow, hands on the forehead would imply exhaustion.

forehead.
and it's a concept album. each if the illustrations portray a scene from the story. each song tells a chapter of the story. there's an illustration for each song

You've gotta make short instructions for Soup Miner, example:

Hands. Apply directly to the forehead.

Honestly, I think TWHL has a very serious shortage of traditional artists. It's not really the place to look. I remember elon yariv was into drawing, but he left long ago...

You did advertise in other places, right?

I know a guy that might be able to do some drawing, I mean, serious drawing, not the shit I pulled. If you want, I can ask him about it.

I would highly recommend you ask Daubster personally in case he misses this thread. He is no doubt very busy with uni work, but he's an exceptional black and white tonal artist so it'd be worthwhile asking him.

Learning photoshop right now in college, maybe I'd be able to do it in 1 or 2 years time easily, but unfortunately you're 1 or 2 years too early :(

Unless you can draw, photoshop won't help him at all...

Ditto, if you can actually draw then you won't need photoshop.
