Hey guys I got the model thing working but now hammers being a pain. The textures section has nothing in it, As its source Sdk it should already be linked to the Half life 2 textures shouldn't it? I know I can extract materials from the source materials GFC file but that is WAY to many. Any help?

Getting textures into hammer? For mapping or a model? Copy and paste a texture into paint than copy and past it into wally. Make sure its div by 16. Put it in halflife folder and in hammer go to tools, options, textures and add the wad.

Model wise I dunno.

maybe when u edited the model you changed the directory structure, so now it's looking for the materials in the wrong place? do the materials show up if u view in model viewer? (ive heard it's a pain to get custom model's materials to show up in source, but ive not tried it yet..)

I think the problem is that the materials window in Hammer isn't showing anything.

Check if the "only used textures" flag is checked, and if there's a filter in the filter boxes. Other than that, you could double check the materials directory in tools>preferences.

Yeah, most likely it'll be one of the tickyboxes at the bottom of the materials window, but if they still don't appear after fiddling with those, right click on the Source SDK and click "Local Files > Verify integrity of tool cache."

This will take a while.

If it STILL doesn't work, open the SDK main window (before you open Hammer) and click "Refresh SDK Content". This will also take a while.

Yeah Jeffmods got the right Idea, there are no materials there. Lemme try that.

EDIT: Okay, I tried all of that. Didnt work.I swallowed my pride and downloaded a material pack from GameBanana and put that in my mods material folder. They came up in the material window yay!

But When I made a brush hit enter and applied the texture, only a wireframe came up in the 3d window. I clicked the camera drop down and selected 3d Textured, still wire frame. Whats happening?!

EDIT2: Ok I cant believe I missed this, An error came up whenever I started hammer reading : "failed to load default scheme file. The map views may be missing some elements", any fixes?

God, Still no luck. I looked in places where others have problems but nothing.

Is there Any way to fix this?

I guess you'll have to try reinstalling the SDK - but make sure to backup the mapsrc folder with all your VMFs in it just in case it deletes it when the SDK is uninstalled.

Alright problem solved! All I had to do was reset Source Sdk configurations ( I didn't make anything for my mod yet anyway.) Thanks JeffMOD. Your post got me thinking!
