ok hammer used to work fine for me but over the past week all the s888s been going wrong with it as u could see in my other posts about lighting that screwed up and no matter what i did it couldnt be fixed....and now everytime i open hammer and load up a map ive been working on it gives me some bulls888 message saying theres some error in the file which is bulls888 and then once i try opening it it turns the .map or whatever into a .file which isnt even a map so its actually deleting all the maps ive been working on....ive tryed reinstalling it ive tryed re-doing all the build programs in config menus ive read through every tutorial i could find but no it still doesnt work....

please soemone help before i throw my comp out the window :( :( :(

right. calm down with the bulls888. just walk us through it. whts the error say? what version of hammer? is there anything dodgy with your comp e.g virus, incompatible video cards.

i was using 3.5...but once it started doing this "crap" i uninstalled it and then reinstalled it as 3.4 because i had 3.5 beta. ok heres exactly what the error says:

For your information, 1953717363 solids were not loaded due to errors in the file.

thats what it says then hammer freezes up and then closes. and then i go look at the file i tryed to upload and its now some .file...file and its reduced in size to about 4kb which i know my map was larger than. So its deleteing my maps everytime i try to load them.

Are you loading an RMF file or a MAP file?
You can run 3.4 and 3.5 side by side, but not from the same folder.

It looks like your map has some serious problems, probably caused from the file you saved not being complete due to the problems you were having with 3.5.
Put the RMF in the vault and get someone else to open it.
If it works for them, then it is your set up.

well like i said the map doesnt exist any more hammer messed it up and turned it into some .file thing....so it wouldnt really do all that much good.

well, hehe....

i had that XXXXX solids could not be loaded problem...
turns out, it was a a n00bish mistake... ;)
simply load hammer w/o any maps and reduce the # of wads your using down to 8 or less. That should fix it, but if it doesnt, I don't know what...

well, i hope your also not compiling in hammer...
if you are, use the command line instead, much more reliable and faster

I think there must be a setup issue there, a big one by the looks of things.

Wow i should probably kick my own ass.....i reformated my comp like 4 days ago and then when i started mapping all the config and build locations were there EXCEPT they were for my old user account so it made it appear nothing was being compiled....unfortuatly the error thing with lights and stuff and deleteing my maps was real
