I reckon a sling shot would be awesome. Picking up rocks and slinging them at zombehz. Could be a nice first/second weapon. ;)

No, not yet. We dont even have a website, and we need one to recruit good modellers, mappers, and coders etc...

Well good luck finding coders because as you already know, there are very few of them, you have mappers settled, modelling should be easy and all you need are the coders to code those hands :P

i don't really think hands will work, aka hands can't pick up and toss a cinderblock fast enough to hurt anything. anyway there are already hands, the E button.

but the slingshot might work, if you can code that you can only pull stuff in from really close and not have anything hevey be picked up.

hmmm, a slingshot wouldn't be strong enough to kill the living dead, maybe a bow and arrow? (Instead of the usual crossbow)

...The sniper rifle, doesn't the female have that or is it just someone else?

We could avoid cliche and use alternate but cool and realistic weaponry. A bow and arrow made from scrap metal and wire? Or a dartgun? (All made from found scrap materials) We could even have an old car door as a shield - or perhaps a metal dustbin lid. Shields would be useful for blocking off hordes of zombies and enemy gunfire. Because it's half-life to, the shields would act realsitically given the physics (jolt and make a sound when hit and knock things over like you can do when you have an object attatched to the grav gun)

Scrap metal arrows would be cool, if we could make it so the arrows stick into surfaces including bodies, that would be great.

We could have a metal chain, maybe with an old padlock still attatched to it to swing at enemies.

A knife and spear crafted from scrap metal..

Petrol Bombs etc...

I say we use a multitude of realistic found and made weaponry. It just seems unlikely that prisoners would be given cool weaponry from the millitary, it would make the contest end too quickly.

Think about being attacked by a tribe of criminals with scrap metal spears and dustbin lids etc... Being snipered down by arrow/darts of some kind, imagine being able to bash the crap out of zombies with a car part... Infact, if we could have anything that can be picked up as a melee weapon, that would be perfect, it would be so realistic. You go into a room full of zombies and pick up the nearest available object to defend yourself from being eaten...

yes that would be very good, but it would require cpding, especialy things like the swinging chain.

I would love to see it so that your melee weapons accually whack zombies around. as in, when you side swipe it whacks the zombie of its feet and sends it flying a few feet.

I think a good replacement for a crowbar could be.. like a piece of wood to hit things with? From like... a fence or something?

We should have the player only being able to use 1 melee weapon at a time, make it droppable, and have all other potential melee weapons pickupable. That way the player must way up the pros and cons of each melee weapon, and get the one he/she likes best.

I must say that I feel this mod MUST have a shotgun. Perhaps we could find a little abandoned shack somewhere with a dead guy (Father Grigory perhaps?) on the floor, and a shotgun. There is nothing better than using a shotgun against zombehz. ;o

Also, if we have a chainsaw, is it possible to make each limb chop-offable (like in Monty Python's the Holy Grail with the black night ;D)? It'd be damn cool, and would make it so much harder to kill.

Just my current ideas... :)

I came up with a good anti-zombie weapon... 'The knifebat' - A standard baseball bat with a knife inserted in the end, secured with a bolt. This would be great at defending yourself against horsed of zombies :P

so, whos doing there mapping for this?

remember that when you map the areas I was scetchy on to give the player different ways to go, alla farcry. there should be many ways to approch a situation and major area.

and speaking of farcry, i just got it last saturday and beat it yesterday, and was very surprised with the similaritys to parts of the story i have in my head for PRK. does that theme seem like a generic starting block for alot of games or is it just me?

When I was in latin class today(taking that class is one of the worst decisions i have made to date) i started thinking of multiplayer components. this is what i came up with.

modes:
DM- your standard DeathMatch free for all.

Team DM- DM with teams.

Zombification- teams are chossen at random to be ballances, you get no choice which team you start as. teams are zombies and humans. humans get guns and zombies get blunt objects and extra health and speed. zombie kills a human, human gets switched to the zombie team. and if humans kill a zombie with there anti-zombification guns the zombie gets switched to the human team. last team alive wins the round, then teams are rechoosen and a new game begins.

Gang Wars- in general, kinda Natural Selection esk, aka each team builds some kind of base and holds out in it, your team gets to respawn as long as you have a base. each team has to try to destroy the others base center. the better you do the more exp you gain and the better weapons you can access, but you can't lose exp.

GW assault- GW with one team in a base nad the other with a unkillable respawn somewhere else. assaulting team has to carry a mini-nuke or other large bomb into the defenders base and blow it up, if this isn't done after a cirtain time period the defenders win and teh teams switch places.

GW CTS- Capture the supplys. like CTF with a twist. each team has multiple supply stashes around there base to defend. each team has to steal each others supplys to get exp for every supply captured. and with more exp comes acces to better weapons, and to win the match you have to capture all your enemys supplies.

The thing is though that mod 'Zombie Panic' uses the humans vs zombie deathmatch thing. (But they do it really badly - they have the zombies as converted barney models with their arms infront of them as they move - totally unzombie-like.)

We could I suppose do it and have it so the zombie players look and move the same as the cpu zombies...

I still think we should start a collection for a new comp for Jahzel, he really needs it. almost as much as I need a WORKING HL? SDK.

I haven't got much done with the compo now either, but we should all at least be mapping this if we have nothing better to do.
