I'd like to compile the average age of mappers here at TWHL.

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you.

if you look at the clues, you could figure it out.

I am a mear 15, if you wanted to know.

I wonder how many adult mappers there are?

Isn't Half-Life rated M, which means 17 and above can play?

wow, I got it when it came out, lol, but just started mapping like a month ago.

ok, I think BrattyLord is 2 & 12? did I get it?
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-07 22:50:41 UTC Post #39563
Its a ancient chinse secret... Well 15... If you must know...

I'm 14.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-08 00:06:43 UTC Post #39572
15 and a half
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-08 04:39:37 UTC Post #39615
I think the mean age is probably around 17, since the few adults there are here are quite a bit older than the likely mode (12?).

14, but i think i first played hl when i was... 7? maybe 8, or at the most 9.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-08 08:45:32 UTC Post #39664
7? That's impossible!
HL is 5-6 years old.
I'm 18 and started mapping 4 years ago, when I bought my own PC.

I remember the first time I played Half-life though, it was the Uplink demo that came with an old PC Gamer mag (that I still have -- and recently looked at not long ago and thought to myself how dated it looked - man, even the ink was stale)
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-08 08:56:29 UTC Post #39675
I remember the first moon walk, does that count?
To better define a time, I was alive when JFK was shot.

If that doesn't make sense, do a google search on "Methuselah"

I would guess at it being around 20... The mean average of active members, that is.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-08 09:07:34 UTC Post #39683
20? most active members are younger, usually from 16-18. i thought there was about 2 people who were 20/above
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-08 09:17:37 UTC Post #39688
Ok well, is there anyone else who is 19 here in TWHL?
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-08 09:20:15 UTC Post #39690

I kid you not I have played kids 10 years old in cs before, its not THAT bad to play Half lfie, since your not hunting realistic people but cs is a different story.

Posted 20 years ago2004-07-08 12:54:39 UTC Post #39732
I started playing 3 years ago, when i was 11.

I've been playing CS against a 5 year-old kid in an internet cafe once.
This is crazy, not even at school and already playing mature games.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-08 16:16:03 UTC Post #39762
hehe, nice. And i'm 16 years old. I thought that there are more 16-22 peoples on TWHL...

I started mapping a few weeks ago.

You people have been mapping a long time, but that will all end in september.

HL2 will take over, and all HL1 MOD's will be forgotten by most.

maybe without the guy who started this site, it will stay HL1 forever?

one eternal site.

the last of the Mohicans.

or the HL1 sites.

at least you will always have HL top 200 all the time

 .
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-08 17:30:39 UTC Post #39795
I'll never forget HL!!!
HL? wont run on my PC, so I cannot convert to a HL? mapper too quickly.
But DOOM3 will be a tough one.

I usually compile my systems myself at smaller shops.
I don't like dell either, they're too expensive.

8 years old is not young. Ive played a 5 year old.

DO NOT BUY FROM DELL

Once HL? comes around, I'm off :)
Hopefully atom will rematerialise, if only briefly, to sort out appropriate aspects of the site to add HL? stuff.

me? im 18.

as for HL2, bring it on, although it would be nice if the site had seperate sections for each, ad keep the community 'alive' as it were.
Posted 20 years ago2004-07-09 08:51:17 UTC Post #39925
Yes i would still like the community to stay active when HL? comes out. This site needs to be split into two sections when it comes out, HL and HL?.

I'm 14.

I was playing CS once and some guy started using voice, and he sounded like a 4yr old. And he started swearing when someone discovered he was using an OpenGL wallhack and a speedhack. HAHAH! It was hilarious!
