I followed the sky tutorial, and my sky brakes up and trails other things when i move.. whats going on?

Not necessarily a leak. You might have a big map and need to set the maximum view distance in map properties to something bigger than 4096.

i've had this problem too, i don't know what it is, but all you have to do is put a big box that covers the entire map, make it a sky texture, and hollow it so that it doesn't disturb anything inside the map

Max distance won't produce the HOM (Hall of mirrors) effect that SassyPenguin has described.
Leaks will produce this effect, and using NULL texture will do it also.
Basically the player is able to see into the void.

If the sky was past MVD, it would just go black.

Hmm....on my HL/CS running OpenGL, if anything is past MVD it gives me the HOM.

If you run software skies usually mess up when you stand at certain angle or if you are at certain spots in a map. What do you run, Software, OpenGL, or Direct 3D?
