Im gettin seriously confused about steam now, seen many different opinions and problems on loads of different websites.
Can someone who has HL2 working properly plz give me some information/steps on what to do when i get my copy?

1. Insert CD into your local DVD drive (local?)
2. Install the game (WITH srcsdk)
3. Wait for the endless steam updates
4. Play.

Luckily my mediocre 56k connection keeps me from the temptation of big warez.
