i have an example map that shows a way of using alternate suits instead of the HEV without coding the model to have "idle" state.
i got the idea from having a HLDM model that i wanted to use as the defalt player model and i needed the same model to be the HEV suit.

if there is anyone the can code the model to just act as the suit i sure could use your help..the way this is set up now (the model added in with cycler) it moves untill you press use on it.

you really shouldnt make a topic just for a map you submitted, do it in the shoutbox if you want people to look.

But anyway, thats quite a nice HEV suit you got their :biggrin:

i planed on using this for sven co-op in a Halo map because of the versitility in the entities like for the weapons (ex. "weapon_9mmar" has the "custome V,W,and P models).

Which brings me to my next queston if anyone can make weapon replacements for the "9mmAR" and the
"desert egeal" so they look like the MA5B assult rifle and the M6D magnum. Maby even the SRS99C-S2 sniper rifle to replace the opposing 4ce sniper, if anyone is up to it. if so i can get screenshots of the weapons if needed :)

hmm....ask either unbreakable, urban, pepper, WCD or muzzleflash to do those. They're the only modellers i know of around here

You'll always find a hard time getting a modelling or a coder. Not that they are really rare, its just that making a map is one thing, but making a model, or an entire code for something that might never happen would have no satisfaction in it at all.

If you note how many models were all made in the original halflife and weren't even used by a big organised company, you can understand how dubious a modeller would be.

Google for replacement weapon models for half life.

i see what you mean, valve left out a fer cool monsters like the archer and the hvyweapons grunt and the panther

Some of those left-out models have been used by mods, if not all of them.

Anyway, it's not only models that do not always make it into a game. Maps, features (code), textures, sounds... The Borealis levels from HL2 never made it into the final game, for example. Leaning was also something they tried out, but they decided it didn't add enough to the gameplay.

As for using this model as a replacement for the HEV suit, try adding a model key to the item_suit entity. Use the Advanced Editing button on another model entity to see what sort of key I mean. I haven't tried this with item entities before so it might not work, I don't know on top of my head how these entities are derived.
