info@blockh.netCounter-Strike: Block H is set in a housing estate in Northern Ireland. It features murals and icons found in Belfast and Derry over the past decade.
The game environment is part abstract and part hyperreal. The world contains an island enclosed by maze-like walls. Block H gets it name from The Maze/ Long Kesh prison and H-Blocks that held paramilitary prisoners up until recent times. The housing estate (Block H) featured in the game has a similar sense of confinement. The world is set between 1997 and the present day. Lighting emulates a typical Irish gray haze. It is a composite of areas found in Belfast, Derry, and other large towns in Northern Ireland. This setting calls on sectarian symbols such as peace-lines, murals, bonfires, bunting, and flags. State surveillance and religious control of the communities are also represented.
CS:Block H is part of an interactive installation. The project was originally conceived as a way of documenting the murals that are fast disappearing from the landscape of Northern Ireland. Block H has developed from there to explore the wider themes of media and social memory, surveillance and censorship, and the military entertainment complex.

+ Lots of high quality custom content.
+ Big area, with good gameplay layout. I can see this being lots of fun with lots of players.
+ Lots of great little details
+ Nice huge skybox model
- The huge flat, square walls around the edges are a little bit disappointing.
- The lighting could be a lot more interesting
- filefront is annoying
I'd give the map 4 stars, but the effort which has obviously gone into the excellent custom content pushes it firmly up to 5 overall.
One of the most intriguing maps I have ever come across.
It's contemporary art at its most interesting manifestation.
The only problem I have is with the meaning with it all, I'm not sure what the political parts of your vid is trying to prove
In my view no killing is justified especially of innocent civilians...and I also feel anyone who joins any army voluntarily is a fool.
That entire conflict was a complete waste of time from both sides and I don't think anyone has gained anything
