I'm re-releasing this map, it's a slightly modified version of the original one.
I've never published this map anywhere (except in the contest), so, now you have it!

Made for the Mapcore OLD SCHOOL Contest - Version: 1.1
*This is a slightly modified version of the original map*Comboman is a huge map, designed to play with lots of players (minimum of 8). It's made only with the original Half-life Textures (one of the contest requirements).
It's a very Black Mesaish map, divided in two parts: The Surface and the Subterrain structures. There is a ~ 60% probability of spawning in the surface, where you will not find good weapons, but ammo for the RPG, gauss and others goods are massive.
There are 4 ways to enter in the Subterrain structures. When inside it you will find two places where you can grab a gauss and the Particle Accelerator, which carryes 5 weapons: RPG, Shotgun, Crossbow, E-gon and 9mmAR. But, be warned: If someone activates it while you are inside it, you will suffer unforeseen consequences!
There are some others rooms, which serves as the other 40% of spawn points and stuffs like bombs, snarks, life, battery and some basic weapons. You will even find a secret (or not so secret :P) room where you can lock the entrances so you can use the health and battery charges avoiding enemy fire.
You may find some other secrets, but that is up to you!

The map is good for lots of players , but the problem is that you can easily get lost in the subterrain structures. You should provide a top-down picture for ingame use.
Those were the "bads" of the map.
Arhitecture : Very complex , I like it.
Ambience : Except of the surface , it's good( but i really didn't like the creepy wind in some underground place ....)
Originality : If you weren't inspired by something , then you have a lot of imagination.
Textures : 100% Half-Life 1 map
Lighting : 1. Outdoor : Sucks !
2. Underground structures : Medium to good.
Gameplay : Medium-to good.
FPS judging : Well the r_speeds are relatively good. The average was 500 wpoly and 2000 epoly.

Entity Placement 8/10
Ammo and weapon placement was good although a bit too much maybe. The gravity triggers were good and I was pleased to see that they get turned off a some points.
Design 9/10
Overall, well planned out. I could wander around for hours and never really know where I was going. The thing I picked on was the very tight confines inside the facility. There is little room for dodging and when you stumble apon another player it is pretty much as simple as whoever has the bigger gun wins.
Ambience 7/10
Good ambience, some areas were quiet but that was good. Lighting was very effective and pleasant and the glows you used are a great idea. Well done!
Map Skill 10/10
The mapping side was flawless! I could not pick a single error. Only one doorway underground was a bit small but I accepted that as it was a sewer-like area and it wasn't really meant for people to kill each other in.

This map is a classic! You are one of the first authors to recieve a 5 STAR rating (by me)! Well done! I strongly recommend this map to be added to a good server.
I was glad to play a HLDM map that steps away from the usual concrete commonness of the most HLDM maps. The map has a odd feeling to it, but in a well-executed way. While I have my doubts about lightning and architecture at certain places, you still managed to create a lovely atmosphere where you simply 'awe' at while walking around. I dunno about gameplay, I agree with hotdog that there is little room for dodging, personally I think that's a bad thing.
But all by all, a well deserved 5 stars.
Well, about the little rooms for dodging, this is something I don't know exactly if it's good or bad. There is a contrast in this map, in the surface you will find a lot of space to dodge, a lot of players to kill and a lot of ammo, but, most of then are only acessible with the gauss, wich you only get going to the subterrain. Well, I think that at this point the gameplay turn in something like "challenge some players in the subterrain, get the gauss, and then try to go to the surface and kill some n00bs :P"
But if you don't try to get some other weapons, you should be an easy spot for other players who do the same.
About the map being confuse... well, I can't say because I have it all in my head right now, just like de_dust!
Maybe in 10 years I will forget and know if it's easy to get lost
About the rar files... well, if you use linux you can just try the unrar command. If you use Windows, just install 7zip and you're good to go, no need for irritating shareware messages or the like!
