Sooo...Windows Live Messenger.
I managed to snag an invite to the beta testing of the new MSN Messenger and frankly, I'm not sure what to think of it. Put simply, Live is just MSN with a new skin. The program seems to use more resources than MSN 7.5.
Live still contains all the annoyances of the unpatched version of 7.5, only this time its blended into the interface a little better. Didn't stop me hunting Google for a patch to get rid of the ads, the various buttons for crappy features I'll never need as well as disabling Wink and Nudge support (oh how I hate those things). Some people say I'm being overly critical - those people can go screw themselves.
Even so, the patched version of Live doesn't have the cleanliness of my patched 7.5. In fact, the Live interface looks a lot like my Wordpress powered website - dunno if that's good or bad. Perhaps I just need a better patch, but the contact list feels very cluttered and somewhat plastic.
Its still a beta, but I doubt the situation will get any better. I'm hoping that mess.be will release another of their awesome patches for Live, so I can fix it properly. Similarily, I hope the new Messenger Plus! is released soon, so I can get some functionality out of the dang program.
Overall: Not particularly satisfied.

Well, here I am at my Dad's work looking at a tonne of emails and other crap. My graphics card overheated about a week and a bit ago so I haven't been able to tell anyone anything.
My exams finished on Thursday, so I'm a free man! No more school (except for Uni), so for the time being, its party time.
I'll be getting a new computer soon, a nice one that should last me for a while. AMD 64 4000+. 2 gigs of RAM, 300 gig HDD, the whole nine yards. Should be awesome.
I apologise for my absence from the forums and moderator duties. This couldn't be helped: I had exams, and I couldn't access another computer. Hopefully, in a week or so, I'll have a new PC and I'll be back properly.

Blergh. 
Two weeks from now I begin the final exams of the HSC (that's the Higher School Certificate). The outcome of these exams, plus my results of this year determine my UAI, which determines which Uni courses I can get into.
In other news, in my fast evaporating spare time, I'm recalibrating one of my film sets to become a deathmatch map. DM_Trainstation is currently undergoing optimisation as its incredibly rough at the moment. I'm also doing little bits on Rogue Threat when I get the chance, but I'm awfully pressed for time.
Ah well, after the 4th of November I'll be free till March when Semester One of Uni starts! PARTY TIME

Well, tomorrow should be a rather eventful day. Practical Music Examination, followed immediately by a "gig" of sorts: we're doing a "Battle of the Bands" competition. Wish us ("distracted by relevence" - work in progress title) luck.
