I've ordered a new computer, or rather the parts of a computer. I've built computers in school but never acutally built one for myself. Gonna be fun!

It won't be top of the line because I can't afford a monster rig, but I'm satisfied with it. I've cut the cost a bit by using the harddrive I'm currently using, as well as the dvd drive and my soundblaster audigy + speakers.

Some quick specs
Intel Core i3 530, 2.93GHz
Corsair 4GB (2x2048MB) 1600MHz XMS3
Gigabyte Radeon HD5770 1GB

Oh, and I'll finally get a flat screen, a 24 inch, happy days!

Make sure you install the plastic standoffs (screws) on the motherboard.
It will save a lot of grief, and most likely your motherboard will fry if you try to boot it up without the standoffs.

The standoffs are usually metallic, no?

It's a pretty good setup. I agree with the idea of putting your money toward graphics card and display. Most modern CPU's are plenty powerful for almost all purposes. You don't really need top of the line stuff.

I dunno, mine were plastic. There were the screws, and then there were the standoffs, which we couldn't figure out what they were for.
