I'm downloading Portal right now (thanks Huntey for the shoutbox post) Now, I have incoherent information displayed to me. The main window says "Downloading: 76%, 208.2 KB/s", but the taskbar icon tooltip says "Steam - downloading at 121.2 KB/s / Portal (77%)"

This would be the first time I'm using Steam for anything. Which one am I supposed to believe?

good old portal. should of been free from the start.

@ DiscoStu: doesn't matter. nither are probably right anyway. just wait till it downloads.

I think one factors in files you already have and the other one doesn't. So if you've already got some of the engine and material files (from say TF2 or ep2) then it doesn't actually download again, but it does count towards your download speed for some reason.

Then again that is purely speculative.

It is, because I had exactly zero files before Portal.
