Striker StrikerI forgot to check the oil pressure
Today I received my new headset: Plantronics Gamecom 367.
It's probably not what I expected( we always expect for the best when we should expect for the less heh?), but it's surely a lot better then my old 5$ headset. Even though I never touched something like, let's say, Senheiser, I can feel there is still more to improve on the sound quality.

They're really nice though and comfortable (big ear cups and evenly distributed pressure). They have a "noise cancelling" microphone, although the noise canceling part isn't working quite well. But the microphone does, and it's good quality. It's also nice I can hide it in the headset when I don't need it, and it's quite flexible too.

I've only been listening to them for 2-3 hours, but I declare myself satisfied for the amount of money I paid. On some music tracks I increased the bass a little bit just to see how it feels. You know how it feels? Ear massage. And if ear massage happens at entry level headsets, then at something like Senheiser it must be Eargasm :).

Hey, at least I have stereo sound now, which is quite important in gameplay... (yes, the old ones I had to re-solder some wires and somehow they only worked in mono, so yeah...).

What sound card do you have?

Unfortunately it's integrated on the Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 rev 3.3 motherboard.
I haven't had the money for a creative sound card, you know...

Are there big differences between an integrated one and a cheap (let's say, about 35$-40$(which isn't necessarily cheap for my money, erhm...)) Creative sound card?

Integrated sound is never good - it suffers from interference from the other components on the motherboard. I think that if you get a good sound card the sound quality will improve dramatically. For $40 I'm not sure what you can get though.

"Integrated sound is never good"
Is your statement based on your experience or you just say this because, well... it's probably a saying that everybody learned from the internet? Because a few years ago, an integrated sound card might've sucked, but it's not really the same thing nowadays(again, I say this from what I read on the internet).

I don't think there is a huge difference in audio quality. Or I can be wrong. Is it true that a sound card can free up some CPU usage?

It's based both on my experience and on what I've read and heard.

Yes, if your sound card supports hardware acceleration (Creative's cards do). With a decent CPU you shouldn't notice much difference though.

Can you give me an idea by how much will the sound quality improve?

I have a pair of cheap wireless headphones. The sound quality isn't very good but they still produce noticeably clearer sound when I plug them into my Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI-E sound card or my TV than when I plug them into my integrated Realtek sound chip or my brother's integrated Intel sound chip.

I used to have one but we had to throw it away because the stuff on it peeled off and got stuck in our hair and on our heads. It hurt to take it off, too.

Sounds like you accidentally soldered two wires together on your old set. Anyways, that set looks pretty sweet, sure beats my flimsy little plastic set.

Please don't tell me the only integrated sound card you've used is a AC97.
