satchmo satchmo“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better. -- Samuel Beckett”
I am probably the only gamer who plays GTA and obeys all the traffic rules. I stop at all the stop signs and red lights, and stops for all the pedestrians, even when they are jaywalking.

What irony to be a murderer who is afraid of breaking traffic laws.

I tried playing like that with GTA 3 years back. It's actually surprisingly difficult to do that. Especially when the common folk seem to disobey the lays anyway.

Nah, Satchmo is just a classy criminal.

I've tried that as well, but I always end up getting a dent in my newly stolen sports car and then it back to driving like an idiot again. :P

Like Saribous, it's all about keeping a nice new car nice and new for as long as possible.

Then some jackass t-bones you, so you have to get out and blow up their car.

Then you go to a "Pay and Spray" and try again.

Tom Francis, I think it was, of UK's PC Gamer magazine wrote a feature on doing this. It was incredibly funny. I'll try to dig it up and post it here.

Also, you're not the only one. Mafia 2 devs noticed people doing this in GTA, and added a limiter button to all vehicles which will constantly change to match the speed limit of the road you're driving on. Of course they then added police who give chase if you go 1mph over the limit which sounds cool and realistic in theory, but in practice just means that driving becomes a chore .

My little sister used to do that in Midnight Club 2.

I obey the traffic rules in GMOD and HL2.

Midnight Club isn't the same at all. I know at least in MC LA police will go after you and fine/arrest you if you disobey traffic laws.

I don't like GTA, if you strand 10 metres away from your just stolen car, it disappears and you have to steal a new one. Not cool, I liked THAT one.

I've played every GTA except GTA IV and its expansion packs. GTA2 is the only one I like. It's awesome online.

Which GTA are you talking about, Stu? That never happens to me in GTAIV

Not in the first midnight club saw, there were absolutely no repercussions for driving like an insane person. if I recall, that is. it's been a while.

@Huntey: San Andreas. Ok, not 10 metres, maybe 30 or so.

Would you rather have massive memory leaks and +3 GB ram requirements or would you rather just lose a single car when you walk away?

Yeah, I don't appreciate the disappearing car either.

I don't know why, but I would rather carjack a car than smash the window of a car to get in. I guess I don't like to drive around a damaged car.

One trick I found for smashed up car is that I can park a terribly smashed up car in the reserved parking spot and save the game. When I reload the game, the car is spanking new and spotless again. That's how I keep my favorite cars.

And I have no problem shooting criminals. But I don't shoot the police and I don't run over pedestrians if I could help it.
